Cob Web in a PF Jar?

  Ok I read that Mr. Berret is in the incubation/colinazaion faze of his first ever grow. He has 7 jars doing well "for day 5" and one jar with a growth that is not a little round white spot like the others have. This other growth looks just like what I have seen as cob web in casings in the gallery. Its in like an arch and is thin and sparce. Where his other jars have little spots that are very white, this like is said is like an arch and not as white. I think the color difference is just because its not as concentrated as the others and he said the texture actully looks the same.......Contam or Slow myc? :wtf:

Cob web goes very fast - let it go for a few days, when mycelium first starts out it looks kinda light gray sometimes. If the jar begins to smell then you have contam, toss it.

word, i got cobweb for my 1st time recently (from a contaminated syringe from a vendor :frown: )

anyways it colonized bout half my WBS jar in 3 days, now that fuckin FAST

Yes the thin white stuff is spreading 10 times faster than the small white dots in the others. As of this morning there is a little white dot in that jar next to the thin odd shaped gery growth. Its a contam isint it?

Sadly, sounds like a contam. Growing contams is half the fun of cultivation! except it's not fun, it sucks. Search for "Inoculation hood" post by me and make one. I really really recommend it. It drastically cuts down on contams. A contammed syringe from a vendor is a rare problem, e-mail them and se if they'll make it right. It very well could have been some contam introduced in another manner, but most vendors will hook ya up. Make sure you don't mention cultivation, but how when you "observed it under a microscope", you "observed" some contamination.

As for re-using the jar? Soak them in a 1:9 bleach for a few hours making sure you scrub the inside AND outside with a scrubbing brush. I'd recommend tossing them in the dishwasher on the wettest, longest, hottest cycle it has. A dishwasher that I've seen has a "sanitize" cycle, and I hear it works awesome for jar prep.

it most certianly was not a contam introduced by any fault of mine, i did a series of controlled expirements to make SURE it wasnt my fault..

ive NEVER had a contam in the incuabtion stage ever since i built my glove box.. its worked 100% of the time....
the 1st time i just grew out 2 jars of the contaminated syringe...
i suspected teh syringe was at fault, but i HAD to be sure before i went to the vendor.....

SO, i prepaired 4 jars exactly teh same way, innocualted 2 with the suspected syringe, and 2 with a fresh syringe
this was all done at the same time, same batch etc....
just as i thought the 2 from the suspect syringe contaminated with cobweb...
the 2 from the fresh syringe are currently growing happily....
i alerted teh vendor and am waiting for a response before i release the name....

Well, interesting you found it necessary to defend yourself. Interesting! Why would his jars be contamed due to fault of yours? Anyway, he had 8 jars 7 of which are doing great. It certinaly is not the vendors fault. TLG ROCKS

i just wanted to make it clear that vendors CAN somtimes screw up... tho contams are usually the fault of the customer, in my case it was NOT my fault..
i also wanted to stress the point that rather than crying to the vendor when u get a contam, do a little research and find out if it really was his fault of your fault BEFORE u make a complaint.
