birthing?

i have 4 cakes right now that have been colonizing for about a 3-4weeks now and the substrate is about 98% colonized with just a bit more to go, yet i'm seeing pinheads already growing in the jar, is it time to take them out and put into the terrarium?

ohh ok really,how do you usually tell when there ready and is it ok if i'm getting little tiny mushroom growth in the jars already called (pinheads i guess)?

usually birth a week after you see 100% colonization

this shouldn't happen. You were probably looking at them too often and the light induced pinning. In the future you should birth the cakes without pins by letting them colonize in the dark.

that is arguable some people swear by colonizing in light.

Really, that is not something I have read or experienced with. I might do some experimenting to check that out as I have always done it in the dark. Thanks for the info.

yeah i look at my shit like 50 times a day and have only once got pinning like that...

well.... we have pinheads present in the colonization process so all i can say is i'll grow these out and try colonizing in total darkness next time to see what the best solution to this question is, trial and error my friends! makes experts
