When to birth

My friend is wondering if he should birth the cakes prematurely, there is only about 70% colonization of the PF style jars. Should he, or shouldnt he? And why?

I usaually leave them in the jars until there are little yellow fingers, that way when you decide to birth them it is instant shroomies.......
