The albums "Ten" and "Vs." were pretty damn good. And their name is awesome. :grin: But other than that, yeah they are mediocre at best.

agreed.

when ten came out, it was obvious that pearl jam was something very different and amazing. they ushered in a new era of music (along with nirvana) that changed the direction of music in general. it wasn't long before they were defining the that generation. their music actually stood for something. what was even more amazing was that they were the first band to actually take a stand against big corporations/corporate take-overs.

this was at the time when ticketmaster was taking over all of the local and independant ticket agencies. in my area, it was ticket link that was being crushed by ticketmaster. pearl jam fought against soaring ticket prices. they took a stand, believing that people should be able to go see live music from any band, no matter how big the show was, for only $20. when they couldn't come to an agreement with ticket master, they actually started releasing their own tickets, without ticketmaster's hands touching them. they managed to sell their tickets for $20 for nearly 15 years.

even though i haven't enjoyed their studio albums (aside from ten and vs.), their live shows have continued to rock and i still have the utmost respect for them for the stand they took against ticketmaster. too bad it couldn't last forever.

yeah the only songs I really listen to by Pearl Jam are from "Ten" and "Vs"
