You miss the point entirely.  The point is that there is no public health care that competes with private healthcare to keep costs down.  The few programs we have are only available to a small segment of the population.  This keeps a large portion of the population from having access to affordable healthcare.  But by all means keep throwing out those red herrings and see if any of them stick.

I've said it dozens of times, in fact there's several threads dedicated
to the subject... there's assloads of free medical care in the US,
public and non profit hospitals outnumber private hospitals 2 to 1

No offense man, I like you well enough, but when you talk about how ignorant we are you have no clue about health care.  Our health care system is fucking horrid.  I volunteer as an EMT and one of the main reasons I do so is because I don't want people who need transport without insurance to be slapped with a fucking HUGE bill.  And, I don't know of any public or non-profit hospitals in my state.  There are a few in nyc, but none I would ever think of going to in nj, pa, or ny.

And, we're only something like 37th for health care in the world... FOR PEOPLE WITH INSURANCE.  We need a serious health care change.

allow them to do so, in the mean time allow those that utilize the free
system to do so, those that are to ignorant to make use of any of the

if a hospital does the majority of it's work on charity, it's a
non-profit or publicly funded facility, how does it prevent people from
receiving that care

just because you wouldnt think of going to them doesnt mean they dont
exist, 2/3 of the hospitals are publicly funded or non-profit hospitals
and what state do you live in, I'll point you to some of those hospitals
that you wouldnt consider going to

There's this huge group between poor and rich called the middle class, and they're getting screwed.  Health care costs are the number one reason for bankruptcy in this country.

How many of these "charity" hospitals are out there?  How many people have ready access to them?  Is there one in every city?  Can people get their care transferred to them after their insurance has decided they had a pre-existing condition?

Pris, you don't have a whole lot of evidence to back up what seem like a lot of conspiracy theories you espouse.

I dont buy the abject poverty thing, I should probably take that back and say a fairly more troubled childhood than say GW Bush and is more like the rest of us in having to struggle than just the spoon in GW Bushes mouth.

There are no politicians who are poor. Lets be honest, thats not going to happen anytime soon and I take what they say with a huge shaker of salt. That being said what the fuck do you mean the dems want the bailouts? Not one industry that was bailed out was run by Dems and I have seen a step in the right direction of holding them accountable.

I suppose I should retract and make this more clear, his family as a whole rose from meagerness and had the audacity to try to be succesful and earn what they had.

Middle Class is the working poor. The sooner we realize that we are being fucked by the rich and that even in Douglas County, CO where I live people dont just get to go out and put Playstation 3 in every room and have marble in every bathroom, we are all working stiffs. He also had that distinction that we all know of middle class to upper middle class being fucked up in some ways different and worse.

Everything you write here is flat earth, and the definition of poor doesnt mean he lived in da ghetto it means rather than being Paris Hilton he used what resources available to him rather than being an elitist twat.

Everyone should strive to use the resources available to them to reach their goals but as a Middle class person who realizes its not all fun and games, and the nice the place you live the harder it is to get an apartment when most jobs dont pay enough to live in the areas.

I wouldnt support the guy if he didnt see the middle class as the backbone of our country, instead of a communist view that the previous definition of "working class" (which is what Middle class people really are) strive to be.

And I can tell you right now that despite what it looks like, the Middle Class and especially the upper middle class, particularly in Douglas County are by far the most screwed up of anyone. People who are not quite at that level can arguably say that their struggles are what made them what they are.

As far as "poverty" and still going to private schools, etc, I can tell you right now that the majority of people I know here DONT go to private schools, they could if they wanted to, but most people here arent as rich as they front, and most are one layoff away from foreclosure. ITs fucked, its an illusion, and Barry's mother wanted the best for him by doing that.

Please tell me where I can look up what you say about his family, I wont just close my eyes, plug my ears and go "blah blah blah i cant heeaaaar you" because i like to base my views on something more than integesis and what not.

To be very honest, i thought at the beginning I didnt know who Barack Obama was other than a few things about him being a senator, I didnt even trust him or the dems agenda, i just figured before the research they where going to just dance a magic negro puppet in front of us who wasnt bush to try to get guilty white voters to vote for him and of course minorities, and I just wanst gonna buy that bullshit.

Perhaps its just because I agree with his policies. so sue me. I also dont believe he is doing enough to end the war on drugs but hes doing a whole lot better than anyone else had, and progress doesnt happen over night like everyone seems to want it to.

His father wasnt there for most of this life. Like I said I think he is very smart, I simply dont buy the bullshit that you put here.

I do hope that he does turn the country around, and since when does any president so far in our lifetimes been handed the great depression number 2 and do the things needed for progress?

state and county health departments as well as the charity hospitals,
what stops them? treatment isnt given based on income

charity hospitals dont discriminate based on preexisting conditions or whether you have/had insurance, of course if you have insurance they'd like to bill them for the bulk of treatment

Again, you don't know what you're talking about when it comes to health care.  There is DEFFINETLY a difference in treatment.  I've seen it over and over again.  I even had to take a patient back to the hospital 3 times in a day because they kept releasing him and giving him a prescription he couldn't afford instead of actual medicine (which they have given to other patients in the hospital via IV since they had insurance).

I will tell you right now that If I had the money I wouldnt take the public option but weeding the poor from the gene pool and actually saying we have systems in place is a crock.

3000 to get an MRI that I needed. WTF? and you dont find out until after the fact. They wouldnt even give me an idea.

Then like 92 dollars, which i never paid, and never came back to me, for reading the damn things. then like a couple hundred for the the operator.

insurance didnt cover it PER SE but just HAVING insurance made it so I had a 1200 co pay. wtf? i thought maybe 600 tops.

I told them that I felt this was high, and they dropped it to 900 if i could pay immediately. I did.

They rarely go after you for stuff not payed, their accountants are lazy. They want to tell you that and those damn messican imm'gants not paying are the cause. its bullshit.

my dad got a flu shot at "The Little Clinic" at the supermarket. this is not uncommon.

63 dollars, two different charges adding up to that. covered by insurance.

ya know how much it costs if i just go down there and want to pay? like 20 25 dollars. how does that make sense?

it doesnt. anything is better than we have now. even the failed shitty hillarycare is better than this nonsense.

Yes, most of us who could afford it wouldnt take the public option. Duh.
