Newbies with attitude problems
    #3042192 -

For my 666th post I would like to get serious for a moment.

I have been here for a long time.. longer than I would appear to be by this name and lately I've noticed that we have this disease spreading around this board (not in pub yet thankfully).  Its called indignant newbie condition.

For example

http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat...;o=&fpart=1

This is one of the best ones yet, usually they wait atleast one month before believing that they now are deputy moderators of the board. This one registered yesterday.  I suspect he is a member of the board from before of course.

Anyway peeps, all the pubs kids are great, we all know that, but what are we going to do about this, its getting worse and worse.  Out of nowhere we just a bunch of people with chips on their shoulders posting.

Whats more is that it is allowed.  I saw a guy vote someone one star because he "suspected" a person who answered a thread on cost of fresh mushrooms (using a commercial legal source from europe) was infact a cop.  Things like this make me really cringe.

http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat...;o=&fpart=1

I suggest we take away the ability for new people to give stars.  Whats the point of the star system when people like that are going to be childish to the nth degree and just vote 1 star back?

Sorry to be a bummer but this place used to be perfect everywhere, now its getting a little tattered as more and more people are allowed to be rude and get away with it.

Good idea. I think we should allow them to get a feel for this place and it's people before they judge.

Sad to say, but in a high volume site like the 'Shroomey, you're bound to run into a few bad apples. I see it like this; most of the noobs with 'tudes are usually insecure and are out to prove something. I'd just let their japes roll off my back...it all comes out in the laundry anyway.

thier called puppets....

thier's been an explosion of them in the pub lately, kinda disturbing.... cause thier like roaches, once you have one, you have 10,000... the best thing to do is to ignore them.

they even start serious sounding threads in here too... then you realize you responded to a puppet... eww

i think flamethrower was created simply to flame...

Probably so he wouldn't have to ruin his rating on his "main" name... hahah

so gay...

But the idea that you have to have a certain amount of posts or be here a certain amount of time to give ratings? Being here longer doesn't mean a whole lot, besides simply that... you've been here longer. I kind of oppose the whole rating system altogether as it is a bit ego-revolving... but whatever... a good rating does carry a little bit of trust with it eh? kinda silly, but it does help a little since we're on computers, i guess...

Anywho... Newbie or veteran--mushroom logic tells us that 'tudes aren't tolerable. Peace and love all around man.

Speaking of Adam, where has he been lately? He hasn't graced OTD with his presence recently.
