white karo?

I couldn't find any light corn syrup around here.. and theres nothing even labelled "karo"

I found completely white/clear corn syrup its called "lily white corn syrup"

is this usable for an LC?
I used the search and found a post about it but only one person said it would forsure work and the post was never updated with results

as long as it is light corn syrip you will be fine you want around a 4-6 % (thats is what i use)

sugar content in the lc

reason for having it clear is just so you can see whats in there better
honey is fine to its just a little harder to see whats going on in there

thanks guys... second question.. does anyone know how to prevent it from caramelizing?

My PC takes too long to de-pressureize and it continues to cook the LC making the sugars caramelize causing the water to turn tan like a light tea colour...

could I steam it in a pot with a lid?

Yup thats what I use and for every 100mls of water use 4 grams of the Karo and PC for 20 min

that color is normal
you only really need to worry about caramelizing when you use honey
if you think its a problem put an extra later of jar lids on the bottom to elevate it

use lids and i always use a wash cloth folded up underneath the jar always works

karo shouldnt caramalize if you pc it for 20 minutes. it just wont. at least not for me. its one of the reasons we love using karo.
