good books
    #1098879 -

I have a very vague 10 page paper assignment in my Buddhism class where I think I'd like to do a focused study on the illusion of the ego. I'd like a book with a good description of the doctrine from the canon of original eastern literature on Buddhism, and some books simply expounding on the implications of escaping the ego game etc. If anyone knows any books which would be useful for this topic, please post them here. Thanks

Concerning the ego, you might want to look into Osho, or Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh, which is the same guy, but don't ask me why. He has written a lot on the subject (here's a good one).

Quotes from buddhist scriptures (not only, but also on the ego) can be found here.

a 65 page online manual based on the Tibetan Book of the Dead.
You may very well find it useful for more than your report.
