Re: Injecting H20 to RiceCake: No casing!
    #10976 -

I have just started to experiment with that method on two cakes after their first flush. Its only been a few days, but the cakes seem to be whitening up nicely. I use four-inch Jack-in-the-Box straws and inject them with mineral water every day. The only thing that concerns me is the possibility of contams enering this way. I boiled the straws in a pot of water before using them and flame sterilized the drill bit.

I heard about this too. It sounds awesome, I will try it when I am a little more experienced.

One time I had some wierd smelling, almost completely colonized brfvrm cakes I spilled a bit of H2O2 on them after birth - the fruiting was spectacular. You should give it a try...

The younger the shrooms, the more potent, so only keep the older fully developed caps for spore prints..GoodLuck!

those cakes are well into their second flush. They look great! I have two other cakes that have been flipped and cased with moist vermiculite at the same time I inserted straws into the first ones. the water injected cakes are doing much better than their neighbors who have only just begun to pin now.
