Yeah as long as it's not the chunky kind (that gets messy at harvest).

Yes.

You can mix it with anything thats substrate.  Straw, poo, etc.  And even not nutritive additives, Verm, perlite, etc.

Yes, you can--as a casing material or in a rez-effect.

Coir really shouldn't be used for caseing- it works- but its still 'food' and you don't want your caseing layer 'out to lunch' if you know what i mean.  Nothing nutritive should be in your caseing layer.  Only your substrate.  If your adding nutritive materials to your substrate- your just adding MORE substrate, not a caseing.

As a substrate it can be used either way- solo (some people don't even treat it, seach for coir substrate no sterilization) or as a mix.

ok so heres what im doin, mixing the coir and myc together for 3 inches. and putting a 1 inch 50/50 ver and peat layer on top. does that sound good?

also. do i let the myc take over the coir THEN put the 50/50 layer on OR put it all on at once?

Wait a minute here..I use the husky coconut-husk stuff all the time!! I actually prefer it..the mycelium eats right through the stuff...granted I use a 50/50 Hpoo/Coir but still shouldn't make a difference coconut husk also should not be used as a casing layer..It contains nutrients..first of all why bother with a casing layer it's more work than it's worth un-cased gives the same if not better results and less worry of contams If you have to case simply use Vermiculite It's got no food value whatsoever...:2cents:...e

yes you don't have to case it takes some getting used to and not necessary for cubesand the grinders are with the coffee makers
