If you are ugly, it is your fault.
    #10907316 -

Why do we feel this way?

What do you do if you feel that way?

Is it wrong or bad to feel that way?

Onwards.

Are you asking because you think you're ugly?

95% of the girls I'm physically unattracted to is because it is their fault due to being fat tbh. Welcome to america, eating garbage is our escape of choice.

I was thinking "Its not your fault if your ugly", then I read your post and changed my mind.  Some people its no fault of their own, but many do bring it upon themselves.

beauty has become a distorted thought from countless media convincing you what beauty is, it's not the skin you wear, that is but a shell, it's your soul, mind, nature, life itself.
it's cause your brainwashed to believe that things like hair and body structure is important.
it's sad really, some people spend so much time on there looks that they don't feed the soul, just the body.
pathetic.

The media does enforce that idea, but I disagree that they created it, not at all. It's completely natural to be attracted to physically fit people. When you're looking for a mate you want someone that is healthy, that is a sign of good genes and shows they care about themselves enough to keep in shape which also is a good sign they have a good work ethic and are not lazy.

that is only slightly true...
has very little to do with work ethic or lazyness, somepeople are fat because of problems with there thyroid or stomach or colon, and even intestines.

but even people with a slight belly have a hard time attracting people and it has nothing to do with health or genes, besides with how much our food is chemically altered and filled. for thousands of years out diet had consisted of fruit, vegetables and meat. our body's are not evolved to grain that well. for example when grain was first introduced  there was not very many foods consisting of grains but currently almost all our food is fattening and consist of BLEACHED grains and that is even worse, no nutrients and stuff.
and the media and companys consistantly tries to fill our minds with food and most of the time UNHEALTHY food, how many commercials do you see of fruits and vegetables? almost none right?
and also food is no longer a thing to just survive on, it's almost a hobby.
it's not just physically fit, it has come to the look on a face.
i could write a book with how much i know about this crap but i am busy and have not the time

Any negative feelings someone has about your appearance should only make them feel bad.  Its just constructing a personal hell, putting value into abstract features.  There's no ideal, no authority on whats right for looks, being able to run or lift is no longer a necessity for survival.  The amount of time one lives, and the number of their health problems are only as important as they are made to be.

There's no reason not to unconditionally love every single thing you come into contact with.  Imagine that sort of existence.  I'm not going to pretend I'm there.

Thats a cop out.  Its a very, very small percentage of the overweight have a legitimate medical reason for it.  Look at countries that aren't inundated with food and see how many of them are overweight.  In our country overweight is the majority.  It has everything to do with choices.

I was going to say exactly what Qubit did. Sure some people have problems with their stomach, colon, or intestines, but most of these people develop it because of their shitty diet. Very few are born with these problems.

I sympathize for many, because as you said the media/corporate america shoves unhealthy food ads down our throat. I'm not even talking about junk food or anything, but just the typical food. Edit for clarification: I'm not talking about just ads either, but like you said, most of what is produced is unhealthy and not very nutritious.

With that said though I do look down on those people for not educating themselves. I did it, and I'm certainly not special, nor did it take me very long at all. Alot of it should be common sense even, but many just don't think for themselves and, for fuck if I know why, believe commercials. I'm sorry but to me this just makes you look ignorant.

I do not think I'm better than these people. I could care less what my friends and family eat as long as their happy. I never discriminate against someone for any choice they make, or at least I try not to. I don't not love someone because of it either. I'd like to think I'm of the mindset that I love everyone until they give me a reason not to.

When I am looking for a partner though these things are important to me. I'm not saying it won't happen but I've never dated a girl that was fat. I've dated girls that weren't skinny for sure, girls that weren't attractive to me on first sight, but I became friends with them and eventually their personality won me over. After that I even was physically attracted to them. Their personality/heart changed the way I perceived their appearance.

even so, we live in a world where machines do most of our work for us and in a city it's real hard for most to enjoy exercising and most don't even have the time, we live in a world where most people don't have to struggle to survive and most of us don't have the time to exercise or there jobs require sitting in a office all day or hardly any movement. and with our food becoming more toxic and fattening for our body's the harder it gets.
our body is not use to having not to struggle and it's still doing things for survival like storing fat, over time i believe our bodies will evolve to be used to this new setting but for know it's not.
you can't blame people for what society is doing to us.
every day you can't go on without hearing some commercial for foods that are bad for you, food is not as much as a survival tool as it is a hobby anymore.
do you think people want to be fat and they chose it? no fat is really hard to lose and people are actually struggling every day to lose weight and all it does is pile i mean i know people that exercise like there is no tomorrow but nothing is working well, fat is easy to gain but hard to lose. and there is things like stress and depression that eggs on you to eat.
no one chooses to be fat, if they did they wouldn't.

I can't find the actual survey, only some posts on blogs, wiki questions and the like, but to quote:

Quote:
[americans eat] about 4,270 calories [a day] according to the USDA General Survey of 2008 - 2009

Exercise is not supposed to be fun. Not every moment of life is supposed to be full of thrills.

People spend ~8 hours a day going to work for someone else, likely doing something they don't want to do, but they can't spend an hour or two a week working on themselves?

When it comes to going to work people think 'this is what I'm supposed to do' so that they can earn that paycheck, get that dollar, so that they can give it right back to the people who gave it to them. They fill their short desires by buying shit, and they convince their selves this is how the world is supposed to work. When it comes to exercise or eating healthy though it suddenly becomes too hard and not worth it, 'there must be a better way', or either 'there is something biologically wrong with me and I can't help it'.

LoL @ 'beauty is on the inside'

As far as Im concerned, anyone who is fat (other than the small group of genetically faulty people who you ought not be breeding with) does not have a beautiful inside because they are chosing to live with the fat rather than to live without it.

This said, many beautiful people are not so beautiful inside because their whole lives they are given what they want and treated nicely, so they do not develop a well rounded persona.
Simialrly, ugly people are also not beautiful people, often, because they spend their live in resentment and recieving less than the attractive people in life. So they are also polluted with inner faults.

The most 'beautiful' personalities are often those who arent stunning on the outside but also arent ugly..

But I think it is silly to use the word 'beautiful' to describe the personality of anyone other than someone you really love to be around.

Unfortunately I cant relate to this too much because I don't -love- to be around that many ugly people. Mabye the cover is making me avoid readin the book?

I agree with your sentiments for the most part, but not this. What is wrong with choosing to be fat? Someone could enjoy food, weigh the consequences (haha), and decide the downsides are worth the enjoyment of their overindulgence. The same could, and all too often is, said about drug users.

Everything has downsides, and there is nothing in itself wrong with overindulging in anything. What is wrong, imo, is overindulging and then complaining about the problems it causes you yet you continue to do it. What's worse is not even accepting responsibility for the problems and expecting others to feel sorry for you because of it.

The problem with being fat is similar to the problem with smoking - everyone else pays for it when you go to hospital. Also, being fat prevents you from moving around effectively in the environment, etc.

I think that many people do think drug users are a bit ugly inside, because they don't understand the significance of the pleasure people get from drugs. Similarly, most people probably don't feel that the pleasure of eating food is really worth what you do to the rest of your life.

It is not like there is anything that is trully 'beautiful' or not, its all in the eye of the beholder. But the beholders are not random, they are people with tendencies.

So its only wrong to choose to be fat if you think that the choice is stupid and detrimental. Many people feel this way. But many people don't! which is why there are so many fat people around!
But theres also heaps of ugly people

I dunno, I guess it just sounded funny to me for some reason. I think I actually chuckled a bit when I read it.

edit: Thinking about it more, I think it's just the wording of 'in the environment.' I just pictured a huge fat lady with big stretchy pants waddling around and saying excuse me to everyone as she bumps into them.

Well, it appears that people do feel that it is a persons fault, huh. I wouldn't have guessed it, but I probably should have.

Nothing in life is totally in anyone's control. But everything that could be affected by someone within reason, is considered within their realm of control, and thus the result is in part associated as 'their fault'. The fault may, however be shared amongst various people, eg the parents (main culprits in many cases), but in the end if a significant amount of blame can be placed in someone's inaction then it can be said to be 'their fault' full stop. Just because its lame to say its their parents fault. Or society's fault. Everyone wants to relinquish responsibility....
