I want a girlfriend

Ive always taken the laid back approach of "love will find me, dont need to bother looking".

Im 25 and Ive always been single though.
I flirt and I fuck fine but following through into an actual relationship is where I am challenged.

I dont know why this should bother me so much. I guess I just want someone to cuddle with at the end of the day.

I have no difficulty attracting people; Im intelligent, attractive, funny, etc (not to be arrogant)
The whole courting ritual thing is beyond me. I dont understand how you turn a fuckbuddy into a longterm girlfriend.

I can relate, I've gone through my 18 year life without a relationship and it feels horrible (i can just picture some of you rolling your eyes thinking i'm just a clueless kid). But i totally understand the comments saying don't bother with relationships because girls can hurt you. i have seen many of my friends end up in tears due to girls being total bitches to them.
But personally i would rather go through a year of loving someone who loves me back and then have my heart broken than to never have the loving experience at all. Maybe I'm alone in believing this but most of you wont understand what it's like to go many years without a partner.

I think it is more something press upon us through culture and TV.

Seeing a couple walking hand in hand gives you the feeling your missing out on something. seeing hollywood movies and TV gives you the impression that, without a girlfriend or lover you have no value. Which of course is bullshit.

This is spot on. If you turn it around and look at it this way : if you need another person to feel complete then your worse off than somebody who feels complete with themselves when there alone

You dont.  A loving relationship with somebody is not a 'fuckbuddy'.  You need to develop the relationship first, then sex comes later.  Thats how strong relationships are built - it takes time, commitment, sacrifice and abstaining for a time.

No, of course not.  You dont look to strangers, you develop a friendship first, then the sexual part of the relationship comes later.  My woman was my best friend for a while before we had a sexual relationship.

From your reply though, I take it your on board with the rest of the people here in that you dont want love just sex.  I think it's a defense mechanism.

Your insane man, you do not want a relationship at 25. Unless your very well established with a car, job and education you won't find anything long term. Your best bet is to find a girl who you can fuck and be friends with but don't fall in love, trust me. And never ever tell your girlfriend you love her, never!

Im really not interested in just sex though. I feel people wrongfully assume I am from the way I talk.
Im a closet romantic. Im much more likely to write a love story than I am a sex story.
I do tend to separate sex and love though. I dont love the people I fuck and I dont fuck the people I love.
