les stroud is more gritty because he does his shit alone.  bear grylls will do shocking stuff and is pretty nuts, but les stroud is the real deal survivalist.  not saying that bear grylls couldn't do a fair bit of surviving in nature without his crew.

I watched a couple of episodes of his show, in one he was in the
jungle and I couldnt help but notice that he decided to climb up
a cliff as opposed to walking about 30 yards to the nice slope
with plenty of small trees to hang onto

then I saw him 'rappel' into a hole for no apparent reason other
than to show people he's a bigger idiot than they thought, the
one that took the cake was using a long root to climb down a
cliff face by putting his foot between the root and the rock and
then whining about how sore his hands were


in the other episode, he showed me that the smart thing to do to
get to the bottom of a mountain is to find the nearest mine
shaft and follow it as far down as you can until you lose the
light from your torch and that crawling into cracks in glaciers
is a wise idea even though they usually go nowhere, but hey,
they do it in the movies and it's like a roller coaster ride so
why not
