You win $38 million in the lottery - now what?

Inspired by the other thread about two old ladies bickering over lottery winnings, and the fact my local State Lottery jackpot is at $38 million this month.

Suppose you win it.. 38 million dollars tax free.

A pack of 100 crisp bills of $100 is about an inch thick fresh from the bank. 3800 of such packs stacked on top of each other makes a stack of crisp 100 dollar bills over 30 foot high.

You just got the call from the lottery - shit is real and waiting for you.
What will you do?

Live off the interest. Buy a plot of land in the country where I can be alone and nobody'd ever bother me. I'd sit in the sun all day and read books, take nature walks and live the life I'd always want, simple and peaceful. I'd envy no man.

Get a lawyer and set up a trust to collect the winnings. I am not a big materialist, I prefer services. I would probably get a cook and maid. Move to a modest but nice house get a mercedes. Get a few grams of LSD. Nothing outrageous.

I'd give each of my parents $4 million.

I'd give my car to a random poor guy lol...then I'd buy a new Honda Accord or VW Passat

I'd ask my brother where he wants to go and what he wants to do, and then cover his expenses

I'd travel for a long time, inviting my friends to come along, expenses paid (nothing too extravagant, I don't want to waste money, just explore and experience what earth has to offer)

If I ever went to a drive-through again, I'd ask to pay for the people behind me...

I'd reward all the good, modest people I know by taking them out

I'd give all my closest friends $10,000 (unfortunately, this would make those who didn't make the cut resentful of me...but fuck 'em)

I would also do much more for people and communities, I don't think I'd donate to any charities though, I'd just like to start a charity myself (to make sure the money is really going where it should)

i would buy factories and work hard to change the world for a cleaner environment. i would resupply the world with LSD, i would do my best to become president and revolutionize the world and stop the recession and legalize the good drugs and out law the bad, i would supply the 3rd world country's with tools and needed things like seeds,soil and everything like cloths, schools and more. that's only the beginning of what i would do.:cool:

no, i know now days it's not, but that's why i spend on businesses so then i can make more over time, and obviously it would take along time to accomplish most of these things, but time is money lol.

Well 20 million goes into a savings account, 15 into a CD.

With the rest I would buy a house out of state, pay off tuition for a college and start living my life. I would definitely buy a Volcano, a pound of weed, a bunch of seeds to start growing.

What the hell. I read "38 million" and I was like "Well, I could use some new pairs of socks and some more shaving cream". The funny thing is I don't really consider myself a minimalist, I'm just content with just about anything.

I'd start a garden of tobacco and poppies and buy a few bucks of incense and I'd be the happiest man on Earth.

Even if I was rich I'd still buy used books and wear the same old run-down sneakers and sit there watching the time melt by. I guess I'm kind of a modern Tom Bombadil.

$38 million..

I'd spend $8 million on helping loved ones and on fun.
The $30M will be split four ways, to buy 4 equal shares of $7.5M in physical gold, silver, platinum and palladium.

I will assume to live for 50 more years, thats 600 months, over which I will spread $30M = $50.000 a month for spending.

I would travel a lot of the time, all over the planet and go see the world, not caring much about expenses. Seeing where it leads me, not a completely planned out thing but spontaneously travel all over the world.

I'm sure that if I follow my intuition, I will end up in places where that ridiculous surplus of cash can be put to good use. I do my thing, and go.
It will be cool :smile:

Shroomerywise I would arrange for all the hardware Ythan can dream about, making Admin & Moderator a (well) paid job:smirk: and I would hold all sorts of crazy contests for the members with insane prizes to win.

But!

You would never know it was me, I wouldnt want that. It would be anonymously done from the staff. The moment people realize you're unloading big they're going to be fake nice to you to get in on the riches. Then the Shroomery would cease to be fun, I like it real :smile:
