How easily do you dissociate?

When taking psychedelic drugs, do you tend to dissociate, or are you always "with it"? By dissociate I mean lose touch with reality...sort of retreat inside your own head and your own thoughts, become self-conscious, difficult to follow conversations or make sense of your surroundings.

If I get stoned enough I can dissociate pretty easily. I'll space out and it becomes rather difficult for me to carry on a conversation. I also get rather self-conscious...which can be unpleasant if I'm around new smokers, but I'm used to the feeling so it doesn't bother me too much.

But any time I take acid, mushrooms, MDMA....I'm always slightly timid to take them in public because of how easily I dissociate. I always feel like I need to "stay with it" when I'm around people in public, or otherwise people will just think I'm geeking out. Which has totally happened to me before....

It's happened to me on DXM, that's why I refuse to do it EVER again.  Worst two trips of my life.

I have to practice letting go more and more often, that is the whole point of entheogens. I usually have to get a grip and come back to reality which is a very difficult and resistant thing to do.

when I trip i feel more connected with the real world, especially with LSD... although DOB was kind of dissociative for me in a weird way, so are shrooms

im kind of that way by nature. Im not quiet but ill quite happily sit listening to others and maybe put in a few things here and there.

Mushrooms - doesnt seem to change much how i talk to people

MDMA - yeah i get chatty

Acid - about the same as mushrooms.

Ive only triped a few times with people, and they were sober. I usually go solo.

Last time i tripped was working at a festival and had a good long chat with a friend i was working with.

Then i got lost in the intense bright lighting, i was watching the lighting engineers program there light shows at 2am when it was pitch black and i was tripping fairly hard!

yes, i dissociate easily on mushrooms and high doses of mescaline, with a 2-3g mushroom trip i can often keep in control if i stick with conversation or surroundings, but if i close my eyes im off. It's not always easy to control though, which is why you just have to let go!

Definately not a comfortable feeling if you're not prepared or try to hold on, but can be the most rewarding experience if you let your ego dissolve away...

I totally lose it on drugs. I don't feel like I have access to my brain on drugs specially on X and I like lose control of my actions on psychedelics specially on higher doses.

I've only really 'dissociated' once. It was nuts. I've gotten completly shit faced drunk and blacked out more times then I can count, but I don't think thats what your refering too.

I'm pretty good at keeping myself in reality. If I take enough e, I sometimes turn into a total e-tard--facing in and out, lossing track of my thoughts, sputtering off random shit, etc.

It's pretty difficult for me. I tend to hold it together even on high doeses, and even when I'm not trying to. I blame it on chemical imbalance, but I can't say for sure thats what it is.


I generally eat an 8th of mushies, and feel really social and have a huge mood elevation, but not much of a 'trip'. After around 8 grams, I'm tripping pretty hard. Around 12 grams is where it becomes difficult to stay grounded.


DMT's really the only thing I easily leave my body on, or lose touch with what is real.
