Enjoying mushrooms seems difficult?!?!
    #3794853 - 02/17/05 09:11 PM (11 years, 9 months ago)

I've been a cultivator for a long time, enjoying shrooms off and on for years, or trying to, it seems as if when I do do shrooms with other people my mind stays readily intact, i've done up to 4g's before, got lots of warping visuals, but I never seem to let go. I never really fight the trip, but I always see around it, I think i'm trying too hard, shrooms to me is an experience but never really a great time, I find the mental exaustion and come down not worth the hassel, yet I keep coming back as if looking for somthing missing in this mysterious drug.... any opinions welcome!

I do relax, and let the mushrooms take there effect but I just dont feel overwhelming enjoyment like lots of people do. I also find my verbal skills horrible during a mushroom trip, I can't talk properly and feel like a moron haha anyone else get that?

I'm the same way with pot and mushrooms anymore. A feeling of bliss and overall enjoyment is one that I've never felt on mushrooms, it's usually just a poisoning feeling coupled with mind screw. Not fun, but something always draws me back. And something else keeps me in the hobby, maybe it's that next pin set?

I don't know what it is, but the overall experience is interesting..

Hmmm. I'm concerned about that last statement. Are you suprised by your lack of articulation while tripping? It should come as no suprise at all that you will be at times incoherent while tripping.

That aside, if you really want to enjoy the mushrooms, you will have to prepare for the trip. You will want to be in good physical health. You will want to have no impending deadlines of any sort. You will want to be naturely relaxed before going into the trip. If you have something weighting on your mind you might not be able to enjoy the trip. And finally, go into nature for the trip. Bring pink floyd. Relax. Don't think about the trip too much when going into it, think about the landscape, and the warmth of the sun, and the sounds of rustling leaves, etc.

i think you guys are just expecting too much from the shrooms, u know, hearing ppl have the amazing trips and u wanna have them too. I was like that my first two times tripping and when it didn't feel blissful and i didn't see crayz visuals i felt disappointed and had a bad trip. my 3rd time the expectations weren't as high and i just went with the flow and had an amazing trip. expectations can ruin a trip because you don't take what the mushroom shows you, instead u long for something else during your trip, ie. feeling giddy, seeing hallucinations, having amazing thoughts. That time I really just enjoyed the trip for what it was.

It is only you that thinks enjoying mushrooms is difficult. Even if you hate it, you can turn that into an enjoyment. And love and hate create each other.

Shrooms aren't really simply about 'enjoyment' in and of itself - there are plenty of other drugs you can take if you merely want to get high.

Personally I like the whole journey the little fellows take me on - the highs, the lows, the down-right bizarre areas.

No matter where they lead me experience has shown that I always get the trip I need and learn so much.

I strongly agree with chodamunky. Expectations can really keep you from enjoying your trip. Try not to expect anything from the trip. Don't even think about the trip.

Another thing that will work is this: most people here know about set and setting and know not to trip when they don't feel well. I think that a lot of people still don't understand how important mindset is. Try tripping on one of those rare days when you feel absolutely great, like nothing can bring you down and you can't get that grin off your face. I know these are not very common for most people and that very often you simply cannot trip on these days because of work, obligations etc.. but if you get the chance, take a somewhat high dose and see what happens.

sound like you eat mushrooms too often, listen to jux and let your mind and body heal for the next experience. :stoned:
or just smoke some pot... that always makes my trip so much more intense :rocket:

Don't trip just because they are available, eat them when you are in need of it, you will know. Stay relaxed, good tunes, good bud, whatever you like. Just let yourself go.

Mushrooms help you. Although you might not see it as help at the time. Say you are an alcoholic and all you want is that last drink or whatever, the mushrooms will show you something you probably don't want to see. They will point you in the right direction and guide you but you are the one who must recognize whatever it is you are doing and change your ways. The mushrooms have a knack for showing you exactly what you need even though you, at the time, might think it is wrong or you enjoy whatever the mushrooms is showing you is wrong. They can only try to help you, you must help yourself in the end. Mushrooms are your friend, and they sometimes show tough love, but it is all love nonetheless.

You've got to go through the bad to get to the good.

My suggestion would be to just keep trying man. But try different settings. If you feel unfomfortable, take a walk. I do this and changing the setting puts a whole new perspective on your trip. Staying locked up inside sucks. I'm a summer tripper. Just wandering at 2am on a beautiful summer night. That is how I broke through. It's like looking at a bright light. At first you will squint. But if you embrace the light on shrooms, you can become one with everything. I know that's vauge but it's beyond words.

You just haven't quite broken through yet. It will come soon.

I'm sure this has been repeated many times already but one more for emphasis(sp):

- Stop expecting things from your trips. This is a HUGE factor in my opinion. It sounds like you've been through alot of tripping and seem to "know" what will happen.

- Take a break. A long one. Maybe even a year or so. (I'd say at least a few months) It seems like you're taking them because they're there.

 :sun:

that sounds like what happened to me on shrooms. you see i read so much about LSD and i wanted to try LSD so much but i couldn't get my hands on it so i figured i'd do shrooms instead. the whole time i was tripping i kept wondering if it was like LSD and kept wishing it was LSD instead of just loving the shrooms for what they are. i've resolved not to take shrooms again until i get my hands on some LSD because i feel that once i rid myself of my stupid desire to try LSD i'll be better able to apreciate shrooms for what they are and accept the good and the bad. i just hope i can get it soon because i really want to trip, on both shrooms and LSD.
