It's a great way to create more market distortion and continue to destroy the American economy!

There is no such thing as a free lunch in economics.

This program is funded by inflation (creation of new money) which destroys the buying power of the dollar.

My friend says the government is "grasping at straws" now with obviously bullshit programs like "cash for clunkers".

Don't worry, the same asshats who fucked up the economy
are hard at work "fixing" it.

it already ran outta money. Check da news.

Plus your car has to meet certain requirements, which if your car meets, will be worth more than $4500

i did

House Votes for $2 Billion Fund to Extend ‘Clunker’ Plan

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/08/01/business/01clunkers.html?hp

so popular they extended the plan

The House of Representatives voted to provide an emergency $2 billion for the “cash for clunkers” program on Friday, and the White House declared the program very much alive, even though car buyers appear to have already snapped up the $1 billion that Congress originally appropriated.

of course they labeled it as 'emergency' to get more votes
regardless of how retarded the idea really is, it's not that
difficult to get a dealer to knock $4500 off a car then coupled
with the trade in or smarter still selling it outright and
applying that cash to the new car

I believe the last guy that said something like that led us into
the great depression, he seemed to have a lot of the same ideas

One big difference: Hoover started out with 20% national debt/GDP.

Obama is starting out at 80%.

The great depression was nothing compared to what's coming.

is it really that bad tho
its putting more efficient cars on the road
and our car companies r making money
win win?
and then the old cars get recycled somehow right

Both Hoover and F.D.R. were absolute failures.  F.D.R. merely continued on the same path that Hoover started.  F.D.R. did a lot of grandstanding in accusing Hoover of not intervening in the economy.  Nothing could have been further from the truth.

What most people fail to recall is the depression of 1920 that lasted a singular year.....  That is because wages wre allowed to fall and employment picked up nicely.  The resilient American economy corrected itself.

F.D.R. deepened and prolonged the Great Depression. The situation the American economy is in today is far more problematic given serious inflation, people having no savings, and home foreclosures skyrocketing (thanks to the housing bubble created in the Clinton years).

The U.S. government and the federal reserve do not understand economics and they are driving the economy straight off a cliff.  Central economic planning didn't work for the U.S.S.R. and it is not working for the U.S.

really, would you be interested to know that over the years the
parties have switched platforms, it was the democrats that were
all about keeping slavery and refusing reparations in their early
days, now look at them
