Never really thought about this program before, video is kind of bias toward 'neo-con''anti-liberalmedia' end, but still raised some valid points. Cantral economic planning did not work, just as the corn laws didn't, just as the ethanol subsidies didn't, just as the housing subsidies didnt (going all the way back too Easienhour(sp?)).

Eh I just watched a bit of that video but I vaguely remember all sorts of craptacular stuff that was caused by that stupid program.

All I can remember is it was a bunch of :facepalm:

Guess I'll watch that vid tomorrow, or later tonight if I have the chance.

I hate it when something "sounds" good on the surface but in reality it is just a big ol'... ball of fail.

Gotta love the feds, trying to get more out of there GM stakes. Could be sarcasm, but it could be true, I forget.

NIA has very good factbased vids, articles and often fantastic stock market advice, as well as a fine review of bullion dealers.

They forgot to mention one thing. The steel of all those clunkers.. most of it was shipped to China, trading physical metal assets for paper :facepalm:

I didn't watch the video but Cash For Clunkers destroyed the used car market. Before I could buy a car for $1,500-$2,000. A solid car. Now that all the "junk" has been clunked private sellers resale value has skyrocketed. Gone are the majority of cheapo $1,000 dollar cars, so the people that would have bought these up are now forced onto fincance lots or buy new cars that are extremely overpriced.

I don't think that's true really. You had to buy a new car to be eligible for the rebate right? Most people driving a 1-2K car can't afford to drop on a new car even if they're getting triple what their car is worth. I mean I know a lot of people did this but I browse used cars on various sites regularly and good cheap cars are still plentiful.
