Amsterdam coffee shops.......

My girl is in Europe right now and will be taking day trip to Amsterdam.
We were wondering what the best coffee shops are to hit up.
Anyone have any suggestions?

She hasnt gotten there yet, she will be going sometime this week but really doesnt have a real plan yet as far as where she is going.

Just got back from Amsterdam. I kinda preferred the quality of the famous ones such as the Greenhouse, Barneys, Amnesia, the Rookery, and the Dampkring. However, I found the best prices at the less famous places...such as the African Dark Star. And for just chilling after walking all over...the Bulldog on Leidseplein was a welcome respite. Also, only a few coffeehouses serve beer...Bulldog is one...Barney's Uptown is another.

The further away from the tourist center, the better the coffee shops.

My tip: head westwards 3 canals.
