Well, it's not really drug tourism at all, for starters. I'm going this weekend to see Dead Can Dance play in the Hague. And, since I'll be so close, I figured to stop off in Amsterdam for a while (plus I'm meeting up with some friends there). Have never been, so I'm looking quite forward to it. But, anyway, I was wondering if any locals or frequenters might pass on the names/addresses to some nice, chilled out spots? Of course any particularly nice coffee shops, but also if you know any good jazz clubs that have jam-sessions going on, or any other highlights that I should check out. Unfortunately I can't miss too much school, nor spend too much money, so I'm only in Holland from Saturday morning until Monday evening, but help me out with some tips, if you've got any!

oh and also - how early do coffee shops/cafes open in Holland on a Saturday? I'm arriving ungodly early (taking an overnight bus) and really don't want to be stuck wandering around the city from 7am until 9 waiting for things to open...

there are probably coffeeshops that open early like 9am but I don't know if there are ones that open at 7 am. well it's amsterdam, who knows

You are going to see DCD at the Hague? You should do a low dose of mushrooms for the experiance; that would be kewl as hell.

My favorite coffee shops were De Dampkring (THE BEST), Barney's, Grey Area (really small, some of the best pot but no room to chill), Homegrown Fantasy is cool, and De Rokerij was pretty sweet. I would say that of all the places I went De Dampkring and Grey Area had the best product. Barney's should be open relatively early since it is a breakfast bar and it is also within walking distance of Centraal Station. Have a blast man!

Dampkring and Katsu. katsu specializes in Haze's. they are both good and the grey area for hash. if you go to katsu get the golden sage

I just got back from Amsterdam last night. De Dampkring was pretty mellow, good jazz and nice weed. I found De Rokerij a bit cliquey, although the music was excellent. I have to say I liked the Bulldog Palace, but, there again, I am a middle aged English stoned woman on her first trip to the Dam. Got some lovely Thai there! I found it comfortable, welcoming and friendly.

..Now I know I want to go on a vacation there sometime...oh it is almost totally the oppisite of living in Utah...but the mountains are still great here though...
