Possession Ticket..

So I come on here once and awhile and sift through these awesome forums.  There are some really knowledgeable people on here so I thought I could post this for a stab at getting some advice.

3 weeks back a few friends and I we're caught in the process of packing a bowl in my friends car by a police officer on a bike (I know, right?) Well it was unfortunate as fuck and could have been avoided in so many ways, but I was stuck with a possession of an illegal substance (marijuana) and paraphernalia.  The tickets combined come to about $650.  I was wondering as to what I can do to avoid paying that amount, because I really wanted to get that new guitar at the local music shop.

I havn't had my court hearing yet, thats on the 15th, should I wait till then to contact anyone or do anything about it to try and reduce/bargain the penalty?  I'm 17 years old, on the honor roll, never had any previous encounters with law enforcement, working for my eagle scout in the boy scouts, and personally I think that ticket price is complete bullshit.  Anyone have any words of advice? 

My father was saying something about mentioning to the judge that I'm working on my eagle project to count as community service, but I have no idea how difficult it would be to convince the judge to some avail.

You'll just get like a drug diversion program or something like that. Expect to do drug testing so stay clean and smoke while you can they will give you a month or two to clean up...Don't push it though.

Either way its nothing to worry about you aren't in any real immediate trouble as long as you follow what they tell you to do...The part I have trouble with. :lol:

You are going to have to pay. Its either jail or pay. People get off these huge charges by paying huge fines...For you to get off of this 'minor' offense you will have to pay a small amount. Court costs, maybe some drivers license shit, hmmm paying drug court if thats the route you choose...Maybe it will be different seeing that you are a minor but regardless you will have to pay some money.

I know one of the district attorneys in my area so I obviously would call him...If you know someone you can make some calls but I don't see any way around it...Sorry.

Source: Been stuck with these bullshit charges for years now. Just follow what they tell you and get it over with. I've been on probation for 5 years now and will be done soon. God damn.
