i :jawdrop: cuz I always thought she was really socially conservative, well when it comes to drugs anyway. I remember one time I went out and she asked if I was going to "go smoke drugs."

Yeah my uncle is really conservative and he doesn't even drink on occasion, but he is in favor or at least marijuana legalization, to my surprise.

My dad's "reason" for being anti-legalization is that he considers it a public health issue.  This is coming from a man who is on the highest possible dose of Lipitor and continues to eat pounds of bacon.

but governmental regulation / interference

edit: legalization to me means no regulation and thus regulation only alongside 'decriminalization'. see below.

Every drug that is legal now is regulated based on its health risk.
Why would it be any different if all other recreational drugs became legal?

and when we are talking about legalizing all drugs
we are talking about recreational drugs
not anthrax (which is a bacterium, not a drug)

Just for comparing one of my favorite recreational substances, ghb, to anthrax you are instantly discredited. 

A lot of serious "republicans" i know want full legalization, but then again they're more of libertarians than anything else

to me all psychedelics should be as legal as a rose (or any flower, but do you see my point?).
i wont repeat the definition of drug to support that anthrax qualifies, but i will respond by your use of the word 'recreation'
everybodys definition of 'recreation' is different.
some might find recreation im enduing a coma with GHB
or dieing on anthrax (b/c suicide should be legal as well)

in the instance of GHB, i drug responsible for mass rapes. i dont want it legal in the sense that is avaliable for purchase without governmental interference (ie. as alcohol is now, sure theres laws and such but the actual purchase is done independently)
of course there should be decriminalization (ie. no legal penalty for possession and use) but there should be a sort of harsher regulation

decriminalizing = not legal, but not the law enforcement priority. unable to sell legally. cant be denied of job for drug use.
legalizing = possession, use, sale, distribution is all without criminal penalty, the government can tax it, and there can be commercial sales.

more simply put, "Legalization means you remove the law from the books. Decriminalization means you set limits for personal use."

who are you to say how i find recreation?

Legalization means that it is no longer against the law.
Decriminalization, means that it is still against the law, just not against the criminal law, maybe against civil law, for example. Or it can mean that something is no longer a criminal offense, but it is nevertheless subject to strictly enforced regulations
