rate counts going up and down

i had 116 rates yeasturday and now i have 59...what's up?

To prevent ratings of puppets since a couple of months only users who have more than 75 rates are allowed to rate.
Before this policy was implemented, everybody was able to rate, so did many users with only a couple or even 0 posts (= most likely puppets)

Yesterday, all the raties of users who have less than 20 posts have been deleted.

Thus the now smaller number of rates.

Oh, and the rate count and the score is updated as soon someone rates you.

Thanks, i was just wondering.....i must have been rated by a lot of puppets (either bad or good)...my rating has stayed the same....not that it really mattered in the first place, i was just curious.

It would appear that more ratings than just these people were deleted. My ratings went from 7 to 1, and I know at least two users who rated me a 5 who at the time had between 400 and several thousand posts. Also Invertigo's rating appears to me as 13 not 59...something tells me more than 14 people have rated you Anno!

Perhaps you should give people the opportunity to choose not to participate in ratings at all (so that they can neither rate nor be rated)...

how do you know your rates? I cant it. I tried and tried, but it seems I am too smart to find that.

The user ratings were completely reset.

First we changed it so you could re-rate someone you had already rated before.. In case you changed your mind, or made a mistake the first time.

After that we had a hacker pooch up the ratings on a few users, so 3D just reset the ratings for everyone to start new again.

crobih Just move your mouse cursor over the mushrooms below your name, that will tell you how many rates you have.

i did actually notice the other day i was all the way up to 3 from my usual 2.
but then i realized it wasn't that people started liking me again, it's just that i only had like 5 total rates.
i'm sure i'll gravitate back down to 2, once i'm up to a good healthy 15 rates or so.

oh yeah, thanks thor. btw, i rated some guy with 5 shrooms, and his rating jumped from 2 to 5. it seems pretty weird, almost imposible to me.

what is the algorithm for rating thing? does it have any corelation to idea of an average?

If he had 2 votes before, they were still from the old ratings.

When you rated him 5, he afterwards had exactly one vote, namely yours, and that?s why he has 5 points.

Ech vote x score / total number of votes = rating
Rounded up or down to a whole number.

This used to work for me but has recently stopped working. I am using IE 6.0, what type of setting would I look for to fix this?
