vintage mirro-matic, 8qt. will quart jars fit?

its my first PC. got it super cheap and tested it. its old but it seems to be fine. i am PSYCHED. got some quart jars for real cheap with it too. just not sure if its the best thing.

i tried fitting the jars in the PC and it will hold 4 (one quart) jars but there is not much extra room. i think i can fit a layer of extra lids on the bottom. but it seems it might be a bit tight.

anyone here use this kind of canner? ive been searching for a bit but i cant find a good answer.... need some advice. i dont want to crack my jars.

its the old style with the jiggle pressure weight

4 quarts, that's great. As long as they aren't crammed together, you'll be fine.
You can make or build a little wire rack for the bottom, or use a towel.

extra lid bands on the bottom and they still fit. mabey a little crammed. ???

4 quart jars

how much water should i add?

1 cup? or 2 cups?

1/4 the way full?

a few inches on the bottom of the jars?

sorry, i have a PC now and ive never used one.

no manual for it either. this thing is old. but it seems solid and i trust it. got the jiggler for 15 psi

My 8 qt is a little too narrow and only holds 2 qt jars :crankey:

I have to dedicate a day to PCing my grain jars..2 at a time

well at least it works :shrug:

how far off the bottom can you get the jars? do they nearly touch the inside of the lid. these are my issues. i think i can fit lids under them and lid will just barely close.... whats it like in yours?
