Pint Jars or Quart Jars, that is the question.
    #1150627 - 12/18/02 03:14 AM (21 years, 5 months ago)

I do not have a Pressure Cooker as of yet, but I will. I am having a dilema however, because I know that I can get a cheap PC for $60 Canadian that can only fit pint jars, but I've been reading quite a bit and it seems that using quart jars with grain is the far superior method. I have never seen a PC large enough to fit these things, not for sale, or in anyone's house. And if I did find one, I think it would be very hefty on my wallet? So my question to you shroomerites is what do you suggest I do? Just go with grain and pint jars and get the little PC? or keep looking for a huge one and pay a lot? hmm....please help

Anno - nice xmas cap! never noticed it before

Fungilicious - you really should have a PC when using grains.. obvisouly at some point you will want to go bigger than 1pt, ether bags or quarts whatever.. and will want something other than a small PC
my 22qt mirro should be here today - with shipping i paid $85 US (new)

My 6QT pressure cooker from Walmart cost $34.67CAD; quart jars fit in this.

They only fit without the plate in the bottom of the PC.

Ok, since I obviously scared you with my counter question, I will answer this for you.

The difference is solely in the size if the jars. Coupled to the size of the jars is the amount of work during the filling, inoculation and shaking.(more jars, more work....)

But other than this, there is no difference.

So, if you have little time and many jars, choose the quart jars. If you have more time and less jars, choose whatever you like.

I use both pint and quart jars, as well as spawn bags.

Anno, do you ever get high yourself and come on here and spout crazy, caveman shit?

All I ever see from you is illucidating, slightly sarcastic and right on the money. I know you're an administrator but aren't you tempted to dose, lose your shit and use your community-clout to lead people down bad paths to improper thought?

Just Curious. I would.
