Question regarding millet in Quart jars....
    #1142589 - 12/15/02 09:16 AM (15 years, 5 days ago)

here's the situation...

got some quart jars with millet and water inside of them. they were pressurized in a pressure cooker at 15 psi for 60 minutes. while still hot the jars were taken out of the P.C. and shaken, then placed back into the P.C. to let cool.

The jars were injected with PC Tasmanian and are growing fine. Here's the question, do I let the jars colonize to the point where I see pinheads forming in the glass or do I let them colonize just to the point of 100%, then prep them for casing.

The plan is to case the quart jars of millet seed, so the question above exists.

read your teks because the answer is there....

Let them colonize a bit then give them another shake to redistribute the myc then let that settle in then case....

I'm about to try millet myself. Curious about a few things you did.. Just straight millet? any additives (millet flour, gypsum, etc)? Did you inoc with a standard spore syringe or some honey/myco syringe? Did you open the jar to inoc or use some other method? Approx. how fast is it colonizing at what temp? TIA.
