Jailbait!
    #10662608 -

No, it's not pictures of young hot girls. :naughty:

I was wondering what everyone's opinions on being attracted and wanting to have sex with people who are younger than the legal age of consent are. I think that it's rater stupid and delusional to think that people should have a certain age in order to be able to decide if they want to have sex or not, and with whom. As long as the sexual act is consented by all the parties involved, why should the legal system have any word to say in this, why should the society label it as wrong, and why should the parents want to protect their underage kids from pleasure? :crazy2:

Maybe if people would stop being so ridiculous on their approach to sex and sex education, then they would actually have more chances to enjoy it and they would stop feeling so guilty from something so enjoyable and fun like sex.

I agree with you to an extent. There is alot of guilt when you feel attracted to someone you are forbidden to feel attracted to. I get hit on occasionally by girls who are 10-12 years younger than myself and not legal. If the laws were different I probably wouldnt be as easily able to control myself around them.

This would also happen with many people much less responsible than myself and may result in many teenage pregnancies and STDs.

So underage people shouldn't have sex because legal of age people have poor decision skills? Explain how this makes sense. :strokebeard:
So what if some people will fuck up their lives and are irresponsible? I could use the same argument regarding drugs: some people are irresponsible drug users, hence drugs should be illegal.
Why is it that people need "protected" from their own stupidity, even without them asking for it?

In our society it is generally accepted that children are not intellectually capable of making informed decisions. They must be protected from themselves until they reach an age where they are mature enough to make decisions on their own. Sexual encounters have a great potential to screw up your emotional well being.

Are you going to offer a four year old candy to have sex with you and claim that it was consensual?

Youve got me there.

I really dont know anymore. I mean since millions of years ago and in some other countries today men were marrying 12 year old girls and/or getting them pregnant. This is a relatively "new" thing I think which was born out of modern day religions and fearmongering.

I agree, at the end of the day most guys are attracted to younger girls and most girls are attracted to older guys, so restrictions will never work

I certainly hope you are never allowed to raise a child. Under this logic you shouldn't prevent your child from playing in the street because that would be protecting them from their own stupidity. Why hide the rat poison? Give them matches. etc.

The same thing can happen to non-underage women as well, why isn't the government trying to ban sex for everyone, regardless of their age, in order to avoid STD's and unwanted pregnancies?
The fact that teenage girls get pregnant without wanting, or end up having syphilis or herpes, isn't because they had sex when they weren't legal of age, but because they were stupid, ignorant, and lacking of the most basic sexual information. The lack of a proper, healthy sexual education is the result of this mentality that underage people shouldn't be allowed to be having sex, and that since they're not allowed to have sex, a well informed sexual education wouldn't be serving them in any way, but on the contrary, even give them ideas to have sex. IMO, that's stupid.

First off, drop the personalisms. This is a forum dedicated to the discussion of ideas and not on the personal nature of the posters. Besides, comments like "I hope you won't have kids" strike me as irrational and emotionally stupid.

Why should I want to prevent my kid from playing in the street? Instead, I could be carefully watching them and teaching them all they need to know in order to be safe, while carefully watching over them without having them feeling spied on or restricted. I would also have the decency to allow them to make their own mistakes so that they can actually learn something from their own experience. Of course, in life and death situations I would definitely interfere, but I most definitely would be trying to stop them from having sex, as long as I make sure they protect themselves and aren't being forced to do something against their will.

Of course, pulling strawmans like "give them rat poison" are completely irrelevant to the topic, don't send any message or carry any meaning, other that trying to create useless stupid drama. I would appreciate if you could keep this garbage out of my thread in exchange for meaningful, rational discussion.

Wow, that was useless.
Sex is intellectual?

Can you perhaps answer WHY should anyone else that the individual himself decide for that individual, when it's time for him/her to have sex?
Can you also explain HOW it is determined that underage people can't take the right decision regarding when and who to have sex with, and how their thinking skills magically improve after they become legal of age?
What does "mature enough" mean anyways? I'd applause it if your answer won't be the age itself, but a more insightful and explanatory answer.

Really?
Can you perhaps explain the mechanics of this?
Can you also explain how this concern should be applied only to underage people, without giving a damn that a mature person can become emotionally screwed up from having sex, exactly in the same way?

She could. I don't know if she would.

I find it really interesting that everyone here is mentioning stuff about sex with underage girls, while keeping totally quiet about sex with underage boys.

Or is it that this kind of sex would be more permitted? :sherlock:

Yep.

The underage girl is this pure innocent flower that was taken advantage of, but the underage boy is just a man doing what he wants?

I've noticed this distinction quite often.  Whenever an underage person is discussed its always the woman, for some reason, that is presumed to be underaged and worthy of protection.

My friend had a realationship with an older woman when he was quite young.  I thought it was weird, but whatever.  It certainly wasn't him being taken advantage of.  Are we to imagine that had he been of the opposite sex that he would have been molested rather than thought of as an equal participant?

These kinds of prejudices seem very unfair, especially when we're talking about prison time and sexual predator status resulting from them, in some cases.

As long as sex education is complete at the age in question, I don't see the issue. I think the kid has the right to be informed about the risks involved (pregnancy, stds) before being encouraged to go at it.

I'm just glad you're not relying on the past for your argument.
Nothing irks me more than someone saying "it used to be this way..."

But in that same line of thought, laws on sexual maturity are not based on nothing. They must reflect something in the society. We are not really a society built on the family structure anymore. Families work. Moms and Dads alike. If the daughter of the family becomes pregnant before they've even graduated high school, it's going to be tough. The probability of dropping out of school seems high, because in most cases, there will be no one else available to care for the child. The extra financial strain on the parents is going to create tensions, and probably an even less ideal environment for the child than usual.

While it would not be impossible to overcome, it makes sense that in a society lacking a strong family system to rely on for support, we fall back on laws to protect us. Certainly not ideal, but it makes sense to me
