I want to travel.

The daily grind is getting to me. I want out. I want to feel time again because honestly weekdays and weekends go by in the blink of an eye and all of a sudden it's a new month. Where'd the last one go?

I have money saved up and was considering backpacking Thailand/S.E. Asia. I've told friends and family about it and they seem somewhat supportive. But I'm not 100% set yet.

Now I'm not for certain choosing Thailand because lately i've been reading some sketchy stuff about tourism there, border disputes, terrorism, H1N1 flu breaking out (canada has issued a travel warning against going there)

So I'm asking shroomerites where are some other places I should look into? Also need to consider time of year, I'll most likely depart Septemberish.

I'll be traveling alone as well. 24yr old/male

Basically looking for advice and such :laugh:

i'm in ontario too and have pretty much been in your shoes for the last few months. a few weeks ago i said fuck it and booked a greyhound ticket to bc.

i'm leaving tonight :laugh: just finished the last of my packing. right now there's alot of seasonal fruit picking work in the okanagan region, think i'm gonna do that for a few weeks for some extra disposable income then hitchhike around and explore.

but i'm staying on the continent for now mainly because i don't have all that much saved up. thailand and its neighbours.. and hell, a lot of eastern countries seem like they would be an amazing experience

as for your question, can't speak from experience, but i've always wanted to see nepal and do some trekking in the himalayas.

i'm in the same boat as you. i'm planning on traveling alone as well, tentatively octoberish. i'm choosing between thailand/southeast asia and india, or both if i can save enough. i am so considering bringing some acid with me!

as far as other budget travel destinations, the only other place that immediately comes to mind is central and south america.

stop worrying about terrorism, border disputes and disease, iv been to thailand, vietnam and cambodia . . . lovely places although vietnam was the best.

there is violence on the border mexican border of america, there is swine flue there and terrorists are pretty pissed off with america but people still travel to america. thailand is no different,

trust me once you go there you will forget about those worries,
