Hey all, i need your advice...especially from those whove been there.
This was just thrown into my lap, and I have to decide on a location for a timeshare for early-mid May by tomorrow.
Who was that one member who traveled out there and visited all sorts of trippy temples and stuff? I remember seeing pics on the shroomery.
here are the choices im researching:
Brunei Darussalam China, Beijing China, Guangdong Province China, Hainan Island China, Shanghai City China, Shanghai Province China, Shenzhen City India, Bangalore India, Goa Indonesia, Bali Indonesia, Bintan & Batam Islands Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur Malaysia, Pahang, Cherating Malaysia, Sarawak Nepal Philippines, Aklan Philippines, Batangas Philippines, Cebu Philippines, Cebu, Mactan Island Philippines, Davao Philippines, Zambales Singapore Thailand, Bangkok Thailand, Koh Samui Thailand, Pattaya Thailand, Phuket Thailand, Rachaburi

I've never been to any of them but I know in China they give people severe (think death or labor camp) sentences for weed. Singapore gives the death penalty for bringing drugs in the country so you'll never score a bag there. Philippines, Thailand, India, Nepal, Indonesia, or Brunei are left. So now Philippines are a US territory so US drug laws apply. Now in India and Nepal weed is used religiously in temples and pilgrims have full access. So if you're looking for "trippy temples" and stuff that leaves how many left? Thailand is full of baby rapers so I'd avoid it. Maybe add Bogata Colombia to the list, a friend that went there said that weed was $50/pound.

all those China sites are pretty cool but you should also check out Han Zhou pardon my spelling i don't know how to spell Chinese with English
HuNang province is pretty nice too <-- hometown baby
Beijing really has nothing to offer to be honest and you'll probably get pick pocketed a couple times too
Shanghai is nice good shopping area but if you are white you might not get the low discounts Chinese people would get haha but still cheaper than here
if you are into spirituality you should visit the largets Bhudda statue in the world
Great Wall is a looker too i forgot where but my grandfather's brother's name is on the Great Wall

yeah not true they don't care (depending on where you go) and there is no drinking age in China either
hashish is actually widely used in some provinces it's almost like drinking water

I would have to say Phukett.
I just like the sound of that.
Or maybe Bangkok.

The sound of Phuket does sound ideal for a vacation.

Laos.
I read a book about a nifty magical critter that had good things to say about it.

Since you want something jungle-ish and tropical...then i would suggest to head towards malaysia, thailand or the philippines
with malaysia, i'm not sure how it'll be... in thailand, i'd say koh samui or phuket. pattaya is nice too so i've heard, but it's quite dirty.
as for the philippines..well, i'm heading there next year for 1.5 months. davao i wouldn't suggest since that's in mindinao (area of conflict with abu sayaff). cebu is beautiful, same with batangas.
if i were you, i'd take a look at photos of the places on flickr or on the net and then decide from there.
i can only tell you about the philippines as i'm filipno, and could wholeheartedly say that the people are friendly and warm.

I've been packing around se asia for over 7 months and i think Thailand was the best place to be. I stayed there for half my trip.
But for one week i would definately go to Phuket, then take the boat to Phiphi Island for a day or two. Its unbeleavable.

Places I would recommend (I've been to all of them):
Louang Prabang, Laos and some other random places there
trippy temples: Siem Reap, Cambodia - look up Angkor Wat - the centerpiece of the biggest temple complex in the world I believe
nice beaches - Thailand:
skip Pattaya unless you just want to party and bang hookers Phuket has lots of great scuba diving, but it is extremely touristy/overdeveloped. If you don't mind that though, the beaches are very nice. Railey - specifically, Ton Sai beach - small beach surrounded by giant limestone walls that are all fully bolted - it's a big climbers destination - you can smoke in the open there - no cops at all Ko Phi Phi islands are extremely nice, but there are a billion other people there with you, so it gets old quick I've heard great things about Ko Chang
That's all I have for now. If you want to know more just let me know.
