Concentration.

In all seriousness... ever since I did DXM and other drugs (including Mushrooms) I've been having a *REAL* hard time concentrating and like.
Today I sat down to study some math.. and.. I did a little. but.. I keep getting distracted. I don't want it. It just happens.
It affects my acedemic life... I hate school because of it..
What's goin on >_<
ARg..
anyone else experience this?

FYI: I quit doing drugs because of this.

dxm fucked me up quite bad... its the reason i quit doing all drugs... im regaining my mental abilities with time, and it looks like i received some more thank god...  :grin:

Do you smoke alot of weed. Ive notice marijuana ruins my concentration alot worse than say mushrooms.

I don't really smoke weed at all.. I've smoked it.. less than 50times.. in a year.
Never even that much, it was always at parties and stuff.

I'm not sure it's drugs... Ijust lost my ability to care about things like calculus sometime in the middle of high school. Because, let's face it; calculus sucks.
And I procrastinate, the only thing that allows me to get my work done is the fact that I have nothing more fun available to distract myself with at the time.

I've been pondering if I've got ADD or something >_< but.. I mean.. wouldn't someone have caught that before college?

Plus, I don't wanna be medicated.. bleh..

I started taking hydergine (4.5 mg extended release- half a pill twice daily) and piracetam (400-800 mg 3 times daily) and I was extremely pleased with the results.  I think if you go to your doctor and tell him your problem and bring in some research about these drugs he/she would give you the okay to order them.  Confusion and memory loss could be a sign of depression as well, or poor diet, or not enough sleep, even vitamin deficiency.  I would try to eat a more balanced diet and cut back on caffeine and processed sugar as well as maintaining regular hours of sleep before really worrying, as this is probably the culprit, followed by depression in second place, but I'm sure using lots of dextromethorphan on a regular basis won't help you to concentrate any better. :blush:  Oh yeah also 5 mg of vinpocetine can clear up mental fog...

Aye... I used to be clinically depressed, they put me on Celexa for like 6 months.
The results were wonderful ... I *REALLY* hope I'm not slipping back into that again, it doesn't feel the same as depression...
I dunno.. yea.. I cut out soda's from my diet. I lost like 20lbs :P
So.. not somuch caffiene or sugar anymore, it's pretty balanced... maybe too much starch.. but uh.. yea.. I dunno {:|

I don't use DXM anymore, I cut that shit out like almost a year ago.. maybe even a year.

I'm also afraid of needing to be medicated, because I have no insurance  :blush:

i cant get down to work either, took me 6 hours last nite to do 3 shitty essays...some meth should solve that problem tho :grin:

i think it's really about how much you enjoy what you study.

i am able to concentrate, but i guess i have never EVER been fully concentrated while studying (this is my last year at university). i should be working real hard at the moment, and i'm browsing the shroomery instead, because of a complete lack of interest for what i study.

Try taking 10 mg vinpocetine about 45 minutes before full concentration is needed. You can get it at a health food store for abou $15 for 100 5 mg capsules. Also if you start feeling the depressive symptoms again it is absolutely imperative you see a doctor and a therapist. I bet your school can find you free health care. Your chances of developing depression again are slim however. Don't take any tylenol or blood thinning medications with the vinpocetine. The effects last 4-5 hours.

i used to do a lot of e pills. my memory is still fucked up, and i haven't touched them in over 2 years. drugs have really bad long term side effects. it was a damn fun time in life, but i would do anything to take it back.

Drugs play havoc with your neurobiology, and everybody is different based on their genetics. Some people are highly susceptible to certain drugs causing short, mid, or long-term changes to their various neuronal structures. Unfortunately there's no real way of knowing what the consequences will be until after the damage is done.

However, do know that for the most part you'll probably bounce back and return to something close to base-line. It may just take some time, but every day that you stay away from whatever drug has had these adverse effects will be better than the last day. Generally it will get better! :laugh:

PS: The brain is like a muscle -- it needs to be exercised! If you are having problems with concentration, memory, et cetera, then engage yourself in some exercises to improve these skills. Sort of like physical therapy after an accident...

Synaptic connections may need to be rebuilt, and proper neuro-metabolic function re-established, and the exercise of some mental discipline will probably help things along.
