Preserving pasteurized poo, is it possible??
    #1048902 - 11/13/02 11:49 AM (14 years, 28 days ago)

If one were to pasteurize too much poo, but didn't want to throw it out, is there any way to preserve it, even if at least for a day or two?? Would it require repasteurizing?? Thanks!!

I just pasteurized a big pillowcase full of dung, and I've done this before with no contamination, I just leave it in the pillowcase inside a couple of grocery bags.

Everyone says this is totally horrible, but I havent had any problems with it. Just open the ole bag up, unwrap the pillowcase, and scoop out nice moist dung into my trays.

i do it all the time. it would probably be best if you hung it up out side. it will be fine for a day or two at least. it might be ok to put it in a bag , ive done that too but the poop should be pretty dry. outside is your best bet.

The effects of proper pasterurization lasts for a couple weeks. After that time, repasteurize. Pasteurization is a GOOD thing for your poo...nto bad!

I only had bad experience with pasteurized goods that I didn?t inoculate within a few days.

I have just moved to horse poo.

After the poo is done cooking (pasteurized) and it has the correct water content.
I spray a little %91 in a zipper seal bag.
Load the poo into that bag untill it can not hold anymore.
Bag up all the poo the same way.
Place the zipper seal poo bags in a garbagebag that was also hit w/ some %91.
Close the garbage bag and press all the air out of it.
Put that bag in another garbage bag, press air out, and tie shut tight.
Store in a cool dry place, I am guessing it is imporant to store it in a clean place.

Doing it this way, I have used poo that was almost a month old. I wouldnt sujest to keep around old poo. But it is not good to waste either.
