Please don't steal the library books
    #10382070 -

I can't count on my fingers how many times I have gone to libraries, both local and university, to check out a book related to psychedelics that I found in the catalog. Lo and behold, when I get to the shelf, the book is nowhere to be found. Not because the book was checked out or recently returned or needed reshelving, but because some self important little person decided that they didn't have to pay for the book when they could just steal it from the library. It just happened to day when I checked the shelves for the antipodes of the mind.

Well listen up little guy. Library books are communal property. The whole point of these books is to act as a source of communal knowledge that is accessible to all people in the community. I doubt very much that you will glean much information out of that book that a simple renewing could't fix. Now, because you just had to have it, that infomation that the book contained is no longer in the community, because you decided to horde it for yourself. Thanks alot.

People are probably too embarrassed/scared to buy a book of that nature in person.

HAHA, I got a funny look from the cashier a few days ago buying "the emperor wears no clothes", a huge 8.5"x11" book whose cover is a HUGE pot leaf.

When I buy issues of Treating Yourself, the clerks at the local book shop always give me a little grin.  They know whats up.
