HELP A NEWBYE->Short and VERY FAT shrooms
    #1032292 - 11/07/02 01:50 PM (14 years, 5 months ago)

Hi I'm a completely newbie,I have done BRF+vermiculite cakes and everything goes alright.....
Then I made a simple fruiting chamber with wet perlite on the bottom, the humidity is around 90% and the temperature around 21?C.
But the problem is that most of the cakes are not fruiting at all and the ones how did produced a huge number of aborts or really short and fat shrooms!!!
Can anyone help me??!? :>
The only cakes who fruited are becoming BLUE!!! WHY?
How many hour of indirect sunlight should I give to my little shrooms???

thank you in advance and sorry for my english

bye

I don't think it's a problem of water.... but in your opinion how could I give them more water?
Anyway what you mean by "indirect sunlight"? I think this is the main problem......

does your terranium have a hole in the top sealed over by some plexi glass? this is what ive logically to be the best method for getting your light. you probably dont want to put it in direct light all the time but try a cycle of light and the faq's.

might find some more info www.mycotopia.net

Im a newbie too and had the same issue, mine was due to underwatering.
I soaked the cakes in cool water for about 24 hours and that seemed to fix the problem.

:boxxy:  stop it

OP.  your cakes don't have enough water, and I question your fresh air exchange.

your cakes are "bruising" blue which happens when they are drying out.  I can't explain why, but that's just how it is.  if you drop a jar off your shelf, the mycelium can turn blue in the jar too while it recovers.
