Fat-asses are most commonly a product of a lighting problem. If you keep your lights to the sides or bases of your cakes, then the shrooms will have no intention of growing upward and therefor, will grow short and stout. Your best bet is to place your lights directly over your cakes. This will force the shrooms to grow upwards and thin out a bit more.

I'm not sure without seeing a pic, but if your growing the classic PF strain, then many people call them fat asses and it may be perfectly normal. I know when I grew mine they didn't get much over two inches, not for the most part anyway.

I always read that fat asses are due to to much humidity,I can almost say for a fact this causes fat asses

i think your shrooms are normal the amazon(pf)gow wide and relatively short and geet really fat if overwaterd and not to tall on small amounts of substrate
