PF strain, are they always so fat??
    #4073284 - 04/19/05 03:23 PM (18 years, 9 months ago)

I have 2 questions actually. First I would like to say, the PF strain is truely great. After 11 days of inoculation the PF jars are nearly 100% colinized. Is that good? I think so.
But I have seen pics of the PF strain and they all look so short and fat, it looks' as if they are the size of half quarters. So my question is how do I get my shrooms to look like shrooms instead of short fat little popcorn shrooms.

the colonization is a decent time frame, and pf strain has very stout stems.

the little fat ones are a substrain of the pf strain...

They do not grow fat like that using normal bulk growing techniques. That is some side effect of 100% relative humidity and typical cake growing techniques. I never figured it out, but I know I have never seen any mushroom grow like that from a cased tray at 95% relative humidity.

its also genetic... every once in a while PF strain will produce multitudes of tiny little acorn sized pebbles, very potent but very low yield...

if this is what you're getting, try getting a syringe from a different vendor... there's been some genetic drift since fanaticus last had the strain, so every vendor is going to have a different version of it...
