Kind of looks like Gymnopilus. Do they have any green stains on them?

Gymnopilus penetrans are not poisonous. I don't know of any poisonous Gymnopilus species.

If they are indeed growing from wood, taste bitter, have a cob webby veil, fibrils on the cap surface, then I'd say you have Gymnopilus spectabilis due to the clustered growth and all the other factors.
They may be active or they may not.

123ABC___ Looks like u found some nice spots n patches of gyms brother!!! If u noticed lil pinners bruising green - blue on yellow = greem!!! Those colors- ur description on taste - and the pics - confirm ACTIVE GYMS BRO!! They are very mellow but awesome!! Make a honey n cinnimon tea and use 15 dried gr per person - they aren't the most potent ever ( eat about 8gr dried solo ) - but have quite a bit of very unique unknown tryptamines that definately effect the experience ( i find lots of maroon and blackish bruising also) - - - they give a feel good happy feeling thats un-explanable! Don't pass up the experience!!

Gymnopilus spectabilis very rarely or if ever bruises green.

As wiscokid advises, look for bruising on the young pins, in particular, if its hard to see on the mature caps. My wild "spectabilis-like" Gyms come in thick clusters like the OP's and the pins bruise deeply; evidently they might not be true spectabilis due to the strong odors they put off. Physically 123ABC's look identical to mine save for the rough texture/scales on his caps (mine are consistently smooth).
Nonetheless, they're active so I'm not complaining.

They don't bruise the same as psilo species - but every patch has a nice green/blue cap pheno - and every single spot ive found, they have med - size and pin fruits that bruise the most - Sunlight exposure also has ALOT to do with the amount of visible bruising!! best if cut off right as the cobweb veil starts to rip or just befor!! - HEre is some pics of only some of mine over the past 3 yrshttp://http:// there bruising takes longer to show - and does fade away pretty fast too!! - Its there and CHECKING THE LIL PINNERS on clusters is the for sure best way to tell they are active...................enjoy

The gyms in your pictures are Gymnopilus luteus. They tend to more readily bruise blue/green.

And wisco, if you want to see bruising on the luteus that aren't bruising, squeeze some a couple of times and put them in the refrigerator over night.
It's pretty neat.
