Swine Flu Preparation
    #10250812 -

IN CASE this thing is as horrible as some people think i believe it would be wise for those of you who have information to help everyone on the shroomery.
By this I mean what are some good antvirals or what you should do to prepare for this.
I have here a little summary of some information i picked up about H1N1 and the effect of some natural foods and antivirals that may or may not help but i will be getting them here it is:
Code:

[Do's]
"Vitamins A and E" -

"Blackcurrant" - contains Vit C and omega 3/suppresses pro inflammatory cytokine production

"Oils from clove" - anti-viral/anti-fungal/anti-bacterial.

"Oils from Lemon Grass" - anti-viral/anti-fungal/anti-bacterial.

"Oils from Oregano" - anti-viral/anti-fungal/anti-bacterial.

"Oils from Cinnamon" - anti-viral/anti-fungal/anti-bacterial.

"Virgin Coconut Oil" - antiviral

Garlic - fresh/eat within an hour 1/2 cloves a day

"Vitamin C" - Boosts the immune system 1000mg 2-3 times day

"Green Tea" - tamiflu alt

"St Johns Wort" - Very effective antiviral

"Vitamin E" - Immune booster.

"Apple Juice" - Antiviral.

"Resveratrol" - red wine, peanuts, mulberries, Japanese Knotwood root (richest source), raisins and red grapes. Resveratrol supplements are relatively inexpensive, are more stable than wine and is available in liquid form for absorption in the mouth.

"Scuttellaria (Skullcap)" - Antiviral.(mild tranquilliser)

"Cranberry Juice" - Early research shows that it may be an antiviral, making viruses less able to invade or multiply.

"Cat’s Claw (Uncaria tomentosa)" - Decreases the production of the cytokine TNF-a. Also boosts immune system. Children and pregnant women are to avoid.

"Curcumin (Tumeric Spice)" - Decreases the production of the cytokine TNF-a. Dosage is 500mg to 4000mg daily.

"Astragalus root (Astragali Radix)" - Boosts immune system.

"Tea tree Steam Inhalation" - Reduces the cytokine TNF-a. Add 2 drops of tea tree oil in a bowl of steaming water. Cover head with a towel and inhale for 5 to 10 minutes. Relieves congestion and fights infection. Its effectiveness is unknown. (Pubmed PMID 11131302)

[AVOID]

Elderberry juice (Sambucal) - AVOID - Increases production of cytokines TNF-a and IL-6. This substance is very effective against the common flu but may not be desirable for the H5N1 virus. Increases in these cytokines may trigger a lethal cytokine storm. (Isr Med Journal2002 Nov;4:944-6)

Micro Algae (Chlorella and Spirulina) - AVOID - Increases production of cytokine TNF-a. (Pubmed PMID 11731916)

Honey - AVOID - Increases production of cytokines TNF-a and IL-6. (Pubmed PMID12824009)

Chocolate - AVOID - Increases production of cytokines TNF-a and IL-6. (Pubmed PMID 12885154, PMID 1091792

Echinacea - AVOID - Increases production of cytokines TNF-a and IL-6. Although it is often used for normal flu, research shows that it may increase the chance of cytokine storms for H5N1. (Pubmed PMID 15556647, 9568541)

Kimchi - AVOID - Increases production of cytokines TNF-a and IL-6. (Pubmed PMID15630182)

Dairy products & Bananas - AVOID - These foods increase mucous production.

never been to whole foods actually... i go to a store called Earth Fare a lot, which is similar but smaller and more regional.

They would def. have it at whole foods though. I've seen it at normal grocery stores too, such as publix, in the health/organic section

Things can help your immune system, but nothing really helps kill the virus. Ebola couldn't be cured by B12, and I'm sure virgin coconut oil wont save you from drowning in your own fluids without that oil containing fluid draining micro doctors.

doom, you're missing the point. Preventing a cytokine storm is what prevents the fluid in the lungs. The cytokine storm damages the lungs and scars them up, making them more vulnerable to bacterial infections.

They say it's mainly two cytokines that cause the storm, which the virus is immune to so the body tries to produce more and more not knowing the virus is immune, and this damages the lungs. St John's wort decrease production of these cytokines and vitamin C is suspected to as well. Oils from clove, lemon grass, oregano and cinnamon are also extremely anti-viral/anti-fungal/anti-bacterial.

Several of those that the topic starter listed also inhibit the ability of viruses to replicate.

Blackcurrant would be good to take because it contains large amounts of vitamin c as well as omega 3 which suppresses proinflammatory cytokine production.

Carrots, fish and fish oil would help due to the vitamins A and E.

I'm still trying to find other things that work.

Well, it seems like a healthy diet that would prevent TB from killing you may help, but it still seems next to hopeless as it spreads. A few people may be spared because of their health, but it's still a virus, and as long as we can't fight it or prevent it it's more then a little problem we can oregano away.

You're assuming none of these things would "fight it" but they would, there's a lot of ways to fight it. You are extremely negative.

No, I just know that fighting a virus is useless. We can lessen symptoms, reduce some damage, improve your immune system's ability to fight, but we can't kill a virus; we can't even cure the cold, or AIDS. Don't confuse my realism with negativity, and I will try not to confuse what the positive part of me sees as hopefulness on your part with stupidity and ignorance.

What is the deal with this swine flu?  I haven't been keeping up on it and I don't feel like reading 900 pages of forum posts.  Should I not be eating pork products?

You CAN increase your chances of surviving, and when you do survive a virus you build up a stronger immunity, the struggle for life.

Eating pork products is fine. In fact, just go about your daily business.

The only people I've met that claimed to be realists or used the word realism were pretentious pseudointellectual retard college kids. You saved me the trouble of reading more of your text by using that word because now I know to ignore you.
