Well Gymnopilus aeruginosus has been found in Texas, Tennessee, Pennsylvania & Ohio (to name the states closer to it).
Georgia is such a Shroomy state, so i wouldn't doubt that they grow there as well!
I have never came across that mushroom species before here in florida.
Keep shroomin, Post some pictures - That would be fun.

if you are air drying and the humidity is already high then i can see how you might have problems. if the air is reasonably dry then they should dry fine. if you have trouble this is what i do: first, remove the stipes. next lay the caps out flat and cut into 1/2 in strips. then air dry in front of a fan for two days (note: will make the whole room smell like mushrooms for days to come.)
-------------------- Attn PWN hunters: If you should come across a bluing Psilocybe matching P. pellicolusa please smell it. If you detect a scent reminiscent of Anethole (anise) please preserve a specimen or two for study and please PM me.

Ladle, yes i have infrequently ingested spectabilis, luteofolius and aeruginosus. [edit: BTW, Mr_Mush is the man to talk to about the Gyms.]

Actually there are only 14 species of the genus Gymnopilus with psilocybin and psilocin and they include the following species, The G. putpuratus mention beolow is oly know o fromhe austral Floral Zone in auustralia, and in Argentina and Chile, but also happens to appear in large fruitings in Gernamny crought in with pig manure and woodchip mixtures in the 1980s,
HEre is thelist of psychoactive Gymnopilus , sepaeerate from picking them out in Heslers monograph. basically I warn peole to void the Gymnopilus speices becasuse some of them resemble Galerina species and dcould be confused with a poosinous variety. MJ, again a glasses problem here.
Cannot read the text inthe small editing vox in the reply forums to edit my typos. I have included the Inocybe species in this list also bit again i warn peopl to void looking for tha hallucinogenic Incocybes or Gymnopilus. There are so many comon species to et without poisoning oneself or friends.
Remember there are many here who find shrooms and eat them before anyone has identified hem from anyones work and it is easy to confuse deadly species with both edible and poisonoyus varirties.

Same here, only a few other than Spectablis images can be found with google image search and its usually just 1 or 2 pics. Erowid has lots of spectablis pics.
