What predictions have they made that were correct?

Humans aren't worse than any other form of life on the planet. Just different. Another level in evolution.

Different societies work like animals. Two wolves fighting are two large systems of single celled organisms killing one another. On a massive scale. Billions of cells die.

Imagine massive wars. Two societies comprised of individuals killing one another on a massive scale. Billions of people could die in this scenario. This isn't anything that will happen soon, and it certainly won't mean armageddon. It will just make room for the victorious humans to reproduce, expand, and explore.

Then one day, we'll have organisms whose single cells are actually entire societies.

Life will infinately fractal out like that. In massive loops and mutations.

Humans are an insignificant little blip in all this. To think that we're so evil and damaging is not only foolish, it's arrogant.

This is just a theory of mine. Not necessarily accurate of course, but I think it's easy to see how societies are a lot like life forms unto themselves.

Arrogance being one of our little self-reflective and egotistical traits as humans...

By the way, I agree 100% with your statements in you post!

It kinda feels like the end of the world...but can you imagine what it must have felt like at other points in history...

such as during the black plague when large percentages of the people in europe died?

or at the height WWII as the whole world was involved in one huge massive war?

there have been many points in history where mankind came to a breaking point. Sure, it's never pretty, but we'll live on.

I kind of feel the same way, doob, due to numerous recent events, but I think maybe we are just losing our naiivety as we age and maybe nothing is really drastically changing except the media is growing due to modern technology. I dunno....
I think keeping a positive outlook on life is key though...

The eastern world it is explodin',
violence flarin', bullets loadin'.
Your old enough to kill, but not for votin'.
You don't believe in war, but what's that gun your totin'.
And even the Jordan River has bodies floatin'.

        D G A D Bm
And you tell me over and over and over again, my friend,
    G A D
you don't believe we're on the eve of destruction.

Don't you understand what I'm trying to say,
and can't you feel the fears that I'm feeling today.
If the button is pushed there's no runnin' away,
there'll be no one to save with the world in a grave.
Take a look around you boy, it's bound to scare you, boy.

And you tell me over and over and over again, my friend,
you don't believe we're on the eve of destruction.

Yeah, my blood’s so mad feels like coagulatin’
I’m sitting here just contemplatin’
I can’t twist the truth, it knows no regulation.
Handful of senators don’t pass legislation
And marches alone can’t bring integration
When human respect is disintegratin’
This whole crazy world is just too frustratin’

And you tell me over and over and over again, my friend,
you don't believe we're on the eve of destruction.

Think of all the hate there is in red China,
and take a look around to Selma, Alabama.
You may leave here for four days in space,
but when you return it's the same old place.
The poundin' of the drums, the pride and disgrace.
You can bury your dead, but don't leave a trace.
Hate your next door neighbour, but don't forget to say grace.

And tell me over and over and over and over again, my friend,
you don't believe we're on the eve of destruction.
No, no, no, you don't believe we're on the eve of destruction.

I will not go down under the ground
"Cause somebody tells me that death's comin' 'round
An' I will not carry myself down to die
When I go to my grave my head will be high,
Let me die in my footsteps
Before I go down under the ground.

There's been rumors of war and wars that have been
The meaning of the life has been lost in the wind
And some people thinkin' that the end is close by
"Stead of learnin' to live they are learning to die.
Let me die in my footsteps
Before I go down under the ground.

I don't know if I'm smart but I think I can see
When someone is pullin' the wool over me
And if this war comes and death's all around
Let me die on this land 'fore I die underground.
Let me die in my footsteps
Before I go down under the ground.

There's always been people that have to cause fear
They've been talking of the war now for many long years
I have read all their statements and I've not said a word
But now Lawd God, let my poor voice be heard.
Let me die in my footsteps
Before I go down under the ground.

If I had rubies and riches and crowns
I'd buy the whole world and change things around
I'd throw all the guns and the tanks in the sea
For they are mistakes of a past history.
Let me die in my footsteps
Before I go down under the ground.

Let me drink from the waters where the mountain streams flood
Let me smell of wildflowers flow free through my blood
Let me sleep in your meadows with the green grassy leaves
Let me walk down the highway with my brother in peace.
Let me die in my footsteps
Before I go down under the ground.

Go out in your country where the land meets the sun
See the craters and the canyons where the waterfalls run
Nevada, New Mexico, Arizona, Idaho
Let every state in this union seep in your souls.
And you'll die in your footsteps
Before you go down under the ground

This post has been composed entirely of opinion and no fact, but you all know that , right

Let's be honest. Wether its the shamans in the forests of africa, the buddhism in east asia, the well educated astronomers and philosophers of the western world of even physics, no one knows for sure where we are headed.

In my lifetime, I have realized a couple things regarding humanity. One is that no matter how many opportunities people are blessed with, they generally fail to take them. Two, is that ignorance is a big factor in humans and all inhabitants of the planet.

That said, relative reality (which is fueled by perception) is what we make of it.

not much I can add to this thread, I do believe the answers are already in ourselves, if we can just unlock them

I remember hearing about how they've discovered that almost all people, as they age, begin to feel that the quality of life is worse now than it was when they were younger. Whether or not there is any real evidence to back it up.

Maybe the nukes are the next step in evolution. Blow it all up, saturate the planet in radiation, so that we get a new age of life. Nuke resistant and a million times stronger.

Maybe nature will start over with the beetles or the bees. The only potential drawback, is that it may be quite a few million years before the bees evolve to a significant enough technological level to create another internet, and start another Shroomery web-site.
