so experts are saying that a global viral pandemic WILL, not might but WILL be sweeping both hemispheres in the very to not so near future... a likely source is the avian flu virus, but it could be something else. this is old news and is in the news every day.
A previous global pandemic, the spanish flu, was also an avian flu virus. Comparative studies have determined that the modern avian flu is at least ten times as infectious. The spanish flu killed fifty million.
ANalysts are advising business owners to try and prepare for an indefinite period of worker absenteesm of at least 25%. that means 1 in four people getting sick. So far avian flu has killed 50% of people who have contracted it, even those who were perfectly healthy otherwise.
It has also been noted that in the event of a global pandemic, life insurance would become worthless, and life insurance brokers would "throw their computers out the windows" (winnipeg free press) for the obvious reason that a lethal pandemic would ruin the whole premise behind life insurance.
The effects on the stock market, travel and international travel and security are as yet unknown but will likely be drastic.
Anyone worried?
what will you do to prepare for the next black plague?
dont ask me for sources, use google, read the news, watch it or tune into the radio, read a magazine. this is old news.

thats what my uncle keeps telling me. and in that i fully support them. better global pandemic than global ecological collapse.
Still, itll be rough times.
But i could see this being a positive thing in the big picture.
btw: this is hard science. this not a fringe theory, this is accepted fact in the scientific, medical and media communities.

I could really care less. I think a drastic change like that will be ultimately advantageous. Also, death is inevitable so why worry so much about the when and how?

I'm not worried. Everyone is a bunch of pussies these days. The problem is that humans have relied too long on drugs to keep them healthy. But not me! I'm not one of these freaks that has to sterilize everything they touch. I don't worry about touching door handles in public restrooms. Hell, I don't even wash every time I go to one! In fact, it doesn't even bother me to use construction site porta-potties. I eat old food off of dirty dishes. And if I drop my food on the ground I pick it back up and eat it. If someone sneezes on my plate at dinner I laugh and continue eating. I never get a flu shot. And on the rare occasion that I get a little bit sick I don't take any medicine. I just let my body do its natural thing to fight off whatever bug has gotten into me. And I usually get better faster then anyone I know.
You see, I'm a believer that the body's immune system is just like any other part of the body, it needs exercise. And if you put too much effort into protecting yourself with artificial means then the immune system doesn't get a chance to grow strong. So I make sure that my immune system gets a lot of exercise!! And now my white blood cells are the bilogical equivalent of WMDs! If anyone is able to survive a pandemic then I'm confident that I am one that has the ability to do so.
The only concern I have is that all the misuse of antibiotics will someday create a strain of bacteria so powerful that even my super-human immune system will not be able to withstand it. And if that happens I will have to blame it on all those stupid morons out there who've been abusing antibiotics for a century. But at least I will have the satisfaction of seeing them die first!

at least four billion people? thats fucking nuts. so accourding to your sources 2 out of 3 people in the world must die to save the species? i dont think that 4 of the aproximent 6 billion people on earth have to die to save the species.
