Should I consult a doctor?
    #1013652 -

I've generally been known (and all the males in my family as well) to be a hypocondriact (sp?).

however, this past year this problem has been getting worse.

For some odd reason, I shake a lot. It used to be just after working out, for about 15 minutes, but now after I work out for 15 minutes I have trouble standing up, because my legs are shaking so bad.

Furthermore, my hands, feet, and neck never move gently. I can't explain this easily, but when I move them, they seem rigidy and shake.

I\ve also noticed that I have a hard time making a tight fist, especially when I'm laying down.

I can barely bench press now because of how bad I shake. Everytime I move my neck I shake, or when I lift a glass to drink it, I usually shake. Some days it's worse than others.

The worse thing is I\ve ALWAYS been healthy, cut, and fit. I'm only 16 years old.

Just recently they took a $600 blood test, for a completely different case. Everything showed up good, it had to do with an extreme amount of stretch marks on my back that appeared there out of the blue.

Should I consult a doctor? what can they do? has anyone heard of symptons like this?

Im clueness, and I dont want to go to a doctor and sound like a tool, but this is already starting to effect my life!

hey it's funny you mention acid!

None of these problems started until I started eating acid. I experience the same problems ten fold while tripping too, I find my arms, legs, and neck all move very rigidly.

The stretch marks started after eating acid too???

needless to say, I havent eaten acid in over 6 months. The problems are getting worse.

anymore advice?

tell your mom (not about the drugs) and get yourself to a neurologist

Sounds like you have some sort of imbalance between your excitatory and inhibitory neuro-transmitter systems (i.e. too much norepiiephrine or acetylcholine, or not enough serotonin or GABA), which probably stems from some sort of CNS or endocrine system probelm. That's just a guess though, as I'm no expert...

Any family history of this?

Go see a doctor!

A neurologist might be covered depending on your insurance...if you have a HMO, you probably will need a referal. Call your insurance company and find out...but definitely see someone. It could be serious...but even if its not, at least you'll feel better knowing.

Thanks for all the help, i truly hope it's nothing serious, but my better judgement tells be different.

My family on both sides has had a HUGE history of mental and physical problems, I'm not sure on the specifics though.

I do know my whole family has chemical imbalances in which we are all pretty much depressed, and atleast half of my family (not just my immediate, my WHOLY family) has some sort of dependency on drugs, and most of the other half are nervous wrecks. This is from both sides.

So chemical imbalances effect pretty much all of my family.

I don't share your other symptoms although I do have mystery "stretch marks" on my back.
They appeared long before I took any acid even though I'm sure LSD has nothing to do with this.
They feel like the scars from a whipping I never recieved..

Did they start out as just a few...and then progress?

my whole back is covered in them now, mainly my lower back.

yes, they look and feel like scars from whips. very unusual?

your the only other person I've met with this. my doctors were baffled. they said its the most unusual place to get them, ESPECIALLY since in the past 3 years my weight has been within 10 pounds.

I think they were there for a while and I just noticed em one day.
mainly in the mid to lower part of my back but not all over.
My weight has been pretty consistent as well since I noticed them.
I havn't seen a doctor about it and none of my friends have it......it's really very strange.

I would definitely go to a doctor. I'd see a general practitioner first, see what he thinks, then he'll probably refer you to a specialty doctor, like a neurologist. Some insurance plans require a referral, so that will work out well.

It could be a sign of some type of neurological disorder much bigger than it seems, like Parkinson's or MS... although I highly doubt both of them.

Two questions for you:
1. Are you keeping very well hydrated?
Shaking is common during exercise if there is a lot of lactic acid build up in the mucles. The more water you drink, the less lactic acid build up you'll get. I too have had my arms shake almost uncontrolably after lifting weights/doing pushups to the point where it felt like my arms were going to explode... that's called over-doing it

2. Are you eating lots of protein?
Protein is essential when trying to build muscle mass... It's the buliding block of all cells.

I have some imput for you.

I hate to say it, but you may be diabetic. And with that, the stretch marks probably came about because of the fact that being diabetic your body will not transfer fluids regularly. The build up of fluids tend to resonate around the kidneys and liver area probably where your stretch marks are located. Not to scare you, but it could aslo be kidney disease.

Get checked out, and BE SURE to give them an idea of your hypothesis. Todays doctors are like fast food resteraunts. They get you in and out as quick as possible and may overlook certain criteria. Goodlcuck and get better.

He just had a major blood test. I'm sure they would have seen if he was diabetic. Good input, however.

what the hell? u think i might have a kidney disease? I didnt think it was that serious...well actually the thought of not having long to live almost seems cool. I could do whatever I wanted to , without any consequences, because Id die soon anyway.

Oh well, I'll give this much thought, but not too much, and consult a doctor, who will hopefully refer me to a neorologist.
