Actually, no, again.

Mainstream is, generally, the common current of thought of the majority.  Popular culture (or pop culture) is the totality of distinct memes, ideas, perspectives and attitudes that are deemed preferred per an informal consensus within the mainstream of a given culture. But, if it makes you feel better to think that way be my guest.  It isn't only my behaviors that are out of sync (not so surprisingly, no one else was there at the grocery store), but, more importantly, my ideas and views are so far outside the mainstream it is risible.  I trust I am not alone in this.  Are there points of commonality?  Surely.  The very fact I am a member here shows I probably have a computer and electricity.  This was not always the case.  However those points in and of themselves do not in any way make me a part of the mainstream or popular culture.

I've lived without television for nearly 20 years, the very technology that promotes the homogeneity we see around us.  Find another member of the Shroomery that can say the same.

Ahhh, I thought that's what you meant.  Yes, and that doesn't surprise me being where we are.  That's why I said I wasn't alone.  We aren't exactly in Mainstream heaven.

What I'm not sure about is how I could be a pillar and ornamentation of mainstream or popular culture.  I don't see how you could be one either.  You, and a few others, are enigmatic as far as I can tell.
