I don't support the gun right, but it's not like he's taking your right away to leave, or to move around as you please, or to breathe.

About that comment, are you adding in terrorist acts such as those of the IRA and middle eastern groups, or are you talking gun crimes in general?  If you're going to include explosives, of course mass murders will be far less via gun than explosive device.  It only takes one explosion to take down a building.
Now if you did the statistics of mass gun murderers, (a shooting in the street that's gang or theft related isn't mass murder), then you're going to find assault rifles and shotguns as your primary weapon.

I have no problem banning assault rifles. There has to be a stopping place for guns in the public's hands. Should I be able to go and buy an M1A1 Abrams tank? It's got a gun on it.

Should I be able to buy a vulcan machine gun?

I think not.

There has to be a line drawn somewhere and I believe that assault rifles are a good place.

I'm all for raising the tax on tobacco, alcohol, firearms and ammo....just don't raise the tax on food or gas.

i shot them, i just never owned one, in fact I won a state championship when I was a kid cuz I was a fucking mean shooter, i am so bad ass at shooting I once shot a bird that was 100 ft up in a tree with a pellet gun and hit it right where I aimed then it fell and it's feet caught onto a branch and twirled around and around dead, and I thought it really sucked and decided guns were gay and only gay people would want to shoot them.

Yeah, the main problem was regulation.  I mean being able to buy assault rifles without proper background checks?  I'm Completely against that.  If you own an assault rifle, you should have to go through background checks, and every few years do a renewal on your gun title to make sure you haven't pawned it off to some street scum.

Assault rifles shouldn't flow into public hands like water, and I definitely agree on far greater restrictions. Want to challenge that idea?  Then answer, how the fuck does a 16 year old get his hands on multiple assault rifles and shotguns, and shoot up his school?  Improper weapons regulation.

im not american, but correct me if im wrong... they put the 4th amendment in incase a tyrannical government took hold so you could have the power to fight against them...right?.. so why would he wanna take the away..?..Just a step closer to the new world order i guess..

Obama: ‘I’m Not Going to Take Your Guns Away’

The Obama campaign talks a lot about new ideas and expanding the political map, but in the swing state of Pennsylvania, which the campaign has focused on almost exclusively since the Democratic convention, old-school issues still rise to the fore.

The latest example came Friday during a small political event at SCHOTT North America Inc., a glass factory in Duryea, Pa., where even a hand-picked crowd threw Barack Obama a curve ball.

A woman in the crowd told Obama she had “heard a rumor” that he might be planning some sort of gun ban upon being elected president. Obama trotted out his standard policy stance, that he had a deep respect for the “traditions of gun ownership” but favored measures in big cities to keep guns out of the hands of “gang bangers and drug dealers’’ in big cities “who already have them and are shooting people.”

“If you’ve got a gun in your house, I’m not taking it,’’ Obama said. But the Illinois senator could still see skeptics in the crowd, particularly on the faces of several men at the back of the room.

So he tried again. “Even if I want to take them away, I don’t have the votes in Congress,’’ he said. “This can’t be the reason not to vote for me. Can everyone hear me in the back? I see a couple of sportsmen back there. I’m not going to take away your guns.’’

but that's just the thing.  i'm all for our basic rights and freedoms.  i do support the right to bear arms.  but i don't feel that right needs necessarily extend to guns with such a terrifying killing power. 

i realize you want to be able to "protect" yourself from a tyrannic government.  but for fuck's sake, Obama is not Mussolini.  the government is NOT going to just fucking kick down your door and strip you of your rights unless you're a fucking criminal.  despite the political division running through the country, we are not on the brink of civil war.  if you think we are, well then that says more about your degree of paranoia and psychosis than anything.  in which case i'm vehemently opposed to your owning an assault rifle.

Taking away the ability to acquire a firearm is taking away people's ability to have them. Whether he goes door to door, if manufacturers can't produce guns for anyone who isn't military, it's bullshit.

Whether you think you "need" guns or not, the right to own one or not should be your own. Forever. If I haven't managed to flea to mother nature by the time FEMA is knocking at my door, I will be holding one.

Also, you can be a very intelligent person and experience having a gun to your head. I remember thinking, " . . if only I had the ability to teleport! . . or a gun."
