My first WBS cased attempt. Golden Teacher. *completed*

Started shrooms early April with PF cakes. Now moving on to cased grains.

Method: Colonised bird seed (mostly millet), mixed with damp sterlised vermiculite when spooned to the tray -- as per the question I asked and it was answered here.

Cased 60 coir 40 verm. Double patched in same but pH adjusted to 7.1 with sea shells and lime.

Container 1 litre. I hope I get a dry oz.

I have a question, how many flushes can one get out of a WBS case?

PF cake shown, Australian strain. Cake 300ml volume, a foil lidded drinking glass. Made to PF recipe, 1 water, 1 BRF, 2 vermiculite. Dunked 24hrs at birth into a zip bag and popped into the refrigerator. Injected with 12cc tap water to 3 to 4 sites @ 3 to 4ml per injection. Rolled in dry vermiculite. Cased top and bottom in vermiculite. Sprayed with tap water. I won't bother with further cake making, casings have me sold.

That is just amazing. I have my first jar of wild bird seed colonizing right now. I hope I get results like that.

Thanks guys. The weight on the scale was 372gram. Though cleaning off vermiculite & peat as well as when it dries will obviously drop the weight. I'll post back what the finished dry weight is. The scales are accurate for general needs. Half lb's of bud sit in the bowl easy.








The cake in this thread was 95 gram wet 1st flush. The first cakes suffered to dehydration whilst in colonisation due to a heat pad incubator leading to disappointment. Getting the water into them any way possible the solution. Aside losing one case to a heat pad temp rise resulting in a bacterial contamination, I think casings are more forgiving than cakes. It's been a real change/challenge of thinking for me, since mullies are so opposite to this. This is almost hydrophyte culture. I'll see how the next cases go. Without this site, I wouldn't be mushie growing. Thanks shroomery. :smile:

Hi Marvin :wink: yes that was the first casing. Strange too that rosecomb anomaly.

Qlop, "bows"...that's one I haven't heard before.

Anyway, The exact weight of it was lost as a kitten pulled down the newspaper sheets where the shrooms were drying, so the sum of WBS GT & the BRF GT plus the BFR Oz were mixed up. The casing result was approx. 35 gram dry (I guess) given the sum cracker dry tally weight in pic of 55 grams.

So, I decided to make up a few capsules with some of it by this method . http://www.shroomery.org/index/par/12203
I'll get better with practice, but beats eating that wretched powder. I have read some folks like the taste of it, I don't believe it.












...and solvents, ethanol and methanol. Got them and other goodies in trade. :smile: I'll do some shroom extraction tests soon.

 

...can someone tell me why only 1 image is thumbnailed (the correct format) and the rest are not? They're all exact in their tags. Thanks.
