A friend of mine is somewhat new to growing, this is actually his fourth attempt, but each previous time got ruined by contams, paranoia, or general bad luck. Anyway, this time he's got a much more secure location to use, and he's going with a lot more jars. Also, this time all the jars will be cased, instead of fruiting PF style.

On 2-23-03 he innoc'd 20 jars with EQ and 8 jars with Treasure coast, then on 2-27-03 did 10 jars of PES Hawaiian and 8 Lipa Yai. This may seem excessive, but with the luck my friend has had in the past, he expects to lose quite a few :wink:

Here's a pic of the incubator, and a few of the jars from the first batch. This is about the average for the whole first batch, the second just starting to show signs of colonization. Luckily, no contams yet, i'm keeping my fingers crossed on my friend's behalf.

Update 3/04
Well, no new pics of these jars yet, but here's some pictures of attempt #3, which is still in progress. Started with 8 jars, got knocked down to this by icky green stuff. But hey, a few pins to hold us over till this next try finishes up.

3/10 update, seven EQ casings and two TC casings. Each is 1 pint of colonized BRF with a coco/verm casing layer. Fun! Pins within a couple weeks, my friend hopes.

3/12 update, here's some pics of the casings. A couple were found to have the beginnings of cobweb, all suspect material was removed with a sterilized spoon and the area sprayed with diluted h2o2. Hopefully the stuff won't come knocking again.

3/15 update
Five more casings have been made, this time with 3 1/2 pint BRF jars per tray. Also, they were given plastic lids with holes instead of saran wrap, as the saran wrap kept the humidity too close to the casing and was likely the cause of cobweb. Here also are some pics of the existing casings, patched a bit

This is day 22 of the grow, starting from the making of the first batch of jars. I'd say my friend is doing alright :smile:

3/22 update. Here's some pictures of the beginnings of pins, hopefully some shroom pics within a week.

This is only pics of a couple casings, there are 15 total that are at this stage of development. Next weekend = good weekend :laugh:

3/25 HOLY EXPLETIVE BATMAN! Look at em go!

3/26 Well, the previously featured exploding TC casing has come to fruition :laugh:

My friend pulled 84.6 wet grams off this single tray, there are another 14 trays like this one that are nearing completion of their first flush, and another 17 trays that just came out of incubation. Also, there is a total of 9 pints of rye colonizing, which will be used to spawn a few bulk trays, but that'll be another log :smile:

So with no further ado, the pics!

3/27 More harvest, 5 casings now out of 15 that have been pinning, and there are a total of in fruiting chambers right now. This weekend a bioassayment will be performed, and results will be posted :smile:

Dry weights will be posted once they're dried.

4/2 Final Update
The first flush yielded over 130 dry grams, the second flush is on the way. Things are going smoothly but my friend is too busy with life to manage anymore pictures. So, I'll sum it up by saying things went well :laugh:
