My neighbors were psycho. They had like 8 kids that had never seen a cartoon, never tried candy, pretty much never experienced any kind of joy. I saw/heard a couple of the kids get the living shit kicked out of em for saying "stupid"...oldest son got arrested for bringing a pipe bomb to school

Mormon is their prophet, he was handed down some gold plates by this dude Ammaron. Then Mormon passed the information down to his son macaroni or something like that who then in turn gave them to that Smith feller.

macaroni, hehe. the mormons actually have what they call "a living prophet" its just some rich dude whos just like the pope. Joseph Smith was the original prophet who started the church. his situation is actually pretty interesting, supposedly he recieved revelation from God after praying about what church to join. But there is some interesting evidence that may suggest he was actually partaking of peyote, amanita muscaria, and datura, and also secretly disbursing it to his unwitting church members via the bread and wine to give them mystical experiences;) but yeah what you said is basically correct

The Pope doesn't exactly "talk to God" to answer questions, it's not as if he goes and calls him up to talk about it.  The Pope is the non blood descendant of St. Peter, the first Pope of the Catholic church.  The lineage is transferred through a "laying of hands" where the old pope will transfer authority to the new Pope.  (This is probably why they're so protected, if they die it'd be a bit of a snafu with the laying on hands thing I believe)  The pope is believed to be able to communicate with god however, and his voice is authority to Catholics from what I understand not as the direct word of god, but god's meaning so to speak.  As such the Pope can never be wrong in church matters.
