Tripping in a cave....is this a good idea?

The basic tour through Carlsbad Cavern is the Big Room route, a one-mile, self-guided underground walk around the perimeter of the largest room in the cave, the Big Room. An audio guide notably enhances the tour. Taking approximately 1½ hours, this circular route passes many large and famous features including Bottomless Pit, Giant Dome, Rock of Ages, and Painted Grotto. Highly decorated and immense, the Big Room should be seen by all park visitors.

Access to the Big Room is provided by elevators located in the visitor center. The relatively level and well-lit trails make this the ideal tour for visitors with limited time or walking difficulties.


i'll probably have walking difficulties...meaning i'll just want to sit and stare at shit.

god i hope there won't be too many people there.

yes, I do not recommend it unless it's a cave you can easily walk
around in, if there's a great deal of climbing or too much slippery
stuff to deal with, reconsider your choice for tripping

make sure it's well explored and has markers for the exit or be
smart and mark your way, it's too easy to get lost in caves

Really just depends on your state of mind at the time you do it. I know for me it probably be a bad trip, cause I'd start thinking about snakes and spiders. If you really like caves and keep a clear mind going into it, it can probably be a wonderful trip. Bring a friend!

Is it just a random uncharted cave or is it a tourist attraction? I would highly recommend going into any caves that aren't open to the public. You could be walking having a good time and bam! pass out and die from lack of oxygen. Just be careful mang...

my younger sister and i will be tripping together.

i won't have the problem with thinking of snakes and spiders....and i'm not really clostrophobic either.

Something like a mammoth cave tour on a low dose might be a good time if youre the kind of person who can function out in public around people. You should probably bring a "sitter" with you though.

and by your argument why would you recommend against public caves?

caves are generally not a pleasant place to be unless you happen to be QUITE fond of complete darkness and the pungent smell of bat shit. if it was more like a cavern, a DRY cavern, with illumination, then maybe it could be a really visual experience.

id stay away from caves whilst tripping if i were you.

oooo a train ride would be perfect for tripping....

1 mile walk does seem a bit harsh after eating 3.5g....i'm guessing i'll be in that cave for a few hours...or get scared and get out as fast as i can.

seriously its fucking awesome,
