Nope, same concept.  It would knock you out and you would just stop breathing while unconscious, I don't think there would be any pain involved.

yes.  heavy opiate doses will subdue respiration (breathing) to the point that your blood/oxygen level falls dangerously low and then your body just shuts down... death by respiratory failure.  Same thing that happens when you drown or suffocate...  except in the case of H OD the airways aren't blocked, just the body quits breathing.

and yes, it would suck to get revived from that state by a medic or a doctor.  You could and most likely would suffer permanent nerve/brain damage resulting in a stroke along with uncontrollable pissing and shitting or paralysis or some other permanent problem such as psychosis or even liver failure resulting in a slow painful death.  Even if you weren't permanently damaged from the OD you'd then have the DTs to worry about.

I'm not sure about this idea. Perhaps the effects from a lethal dose would be different from a recreational dose. It is being poisoned so your body might start reacting strangely. Like vomiting and convulsing. I also think, correct me if I'm wrong, the first thing to stop during opiate OD is the respiratory system. So you basically stop breathing.

I find the whole concept disturbing, it's to passive. I would probably shoot myself in the head if i had to do it. The bad part is that i wouldn't leave a pretty corpse, but it would be instant.

u have a great high feeling and then u push it over the edge and fall asleep then stop breathing

I would imagine it to be pretty freaky.  Lots of throwing up and a general feeling of being out of control, head-spinning, vertigo, and an uncomfortable too-high feeling.  No thanks.

If you were a user with a tolerance and ODed it would probably feel good.

Death by Nitrus oxide sounds more appealing.  :robotrip:

People have survived the plane with no chute.

One guy even got up and walked away with a few bruises!

I wonder what Sodium Phenobarbital would be like.  Its used in euthanasia and lethal injections.

I always thought a heroin overdose felt like someone standing on your chest and your breathing gets shallower and shallower until you stop completely.

Yeah I know that's why it's a good idea to add that to the mix if you are serious about ODing.

I heard Phenobarbital and alcohol is a really deadly mix

Yeah nitrous your completely gone, wouldn't know you were dieing.

I like the n2o death as an option.

Its something we should all think about really, we are all gonna have to pop our clogs and many of us in extreme pain if we don't prepare some other method.

Thats not how it works... it doesn't just stop your heart.  Its not like having a heart attack.  Your breathing and heart rate slows because your asleep, but they slow more than normal.  Then, you just slip away peacefully.

I once saw an old lady die of an oral morphine solution overdose, as part of an assisted death situation.  She had lots of health problems, was like 90 years old, had hospice care... she had terrible stomach and throat ulcers that were causing her immense pain... she also shit herself constantly and was on oxygen.  She had the option of being medicated to the point of a coma for the rest of her life, or an OD.  She told her daughter to let her die with dignity, and give her the morphine.

I watched her die.  She just went to sleep, and slowly, over the next couple hours, her breathing kept slowing, and slowing, until her chest just stopped moving.

Seemed peaceful to me.
