how often can/should i do this workout routine?
    #9857557 -

wondering if this routine would be fine to do daily, as opposed to days in between for rest:

3 sets of knuckle pushups (one close, one at shoulder length, one wide).  right now at 20 per set, but plan to gradually increase over the coming weeks

3 sets of deltoid cycle w/ 5 lb. weights (10x each)

3 sets of calf raises @ 20-25 lbs.  one with ankles/legs turned in, one facing straight, and one facing out

3 sets of shrugs @20-25 lbs.  (20x each)

3 sets of curls @ 20-25 lbs (12-15x each)

3 sets of wall sits, 60-120 seconds

i'm slowly increasing reps per set, weight, and # of sets as i go, and am getting ready to start 4 sets for each session

Body weight and light weight = every day.

thats not totaly true, in some cases, it is, but a stressed muscle needs repair time.  It is definatley possible to stress a muscle enough with bodyweight exercises that requires more rest than 24 hours.  Also, the routine doesnt coover your entire body, in time this routine will fail you, meaning you will ccease to see any results, and wall sits only for lowerbody will lead to an unproportinate body, you will get chicken legs, and your tricep makes up 2/3 of your arm, so if guns is what your after, add some tricep work in, rather than just curls.  check out these sites for further assistance, bodybuilding.com  well just that one is enough to get you started, there are forums and shit.

i actually added in some tricep exercises yesterday

i would love to be able to dips and pull/curl ups, but i don't have anything in the house to do them on, and i don't think the door frames would hold me on one of those bars

i would do squats, but my family has horrible knees.  they pop every time i bend, and i have, in the past, hurt my legs from doing squats in proper formation

but i do ride my bicycle.  when it warms up, i'll start riding consistently.  usually 5-10+ miles, with some hills

thanks

How much do you weigh? if I remember correctly from random pics I've seen of you a pullup bar would hold your weight with no problem whatsoever.

I've got one of these;
http://www.doorgym.net/

and both me and my 200lb roommate do 50 pullups a day on it with no problem, and our house is a piece of shit. If my gay ass doorframes can hold us, I'm sure you'll be fine

i'm ~140 or more, but i've pulled down on the door frames with my hands before while standing up talking to my roommate, and they've cracked loose a little.  they should be able to support what little i weigh, but i really doubt it

I bought a stand-alone pullup/dip tower for $160 bucks and it was one of the best investments I ever made.  I don't think I'd ever want to use one of those doorframe things.

You could cut your workout time in half by doing bigger, compound exercises like pullups and dips.  I only do one exercise per day now, I'm done in 20-30 minutes (or less on Turkish get-up days) and my results are way better than when I spent an hour doing six different exercises.

well the nice thing about that design is that most of the weight is actually pushed into the wall above the door frame. Out of your 140 lbs (about what I weigh too) only about 60-70 of it will be on the actual frame.

but yeah, I don't blame you for being careful, those suckers hurt coming down on your head :crankey:

Just curious, what is 'deltoid cycle?'

You could start doing dips if you have a kitchen counter that comes together at a 90 degree angle. That's what I do almost every day.

i used to do that at my grandparents' house, but my counter is straight, and kitchen tiny

if you have a skaetboard you can do squats against a wall and it takes the stress off the knees totally

i dont think you shoud do them everyday
your body needs time to recuperate.
it depends on your level of fitness i guess.
if your muscle are feeling sore and well worked out after such a workout - then youll need a day or two of down time in between. if not, then sure go every day.
