Re: Aspirations [Re: Cepheus]
    #9843351 -

As far as aspirations go for me I think I might have too much but if I plan it all right, it should fall into place nicely together.

Currently I do restoration work in almost any trade. So I know a lot about building stuff, plus I have always been quite the artist.

I want to go to school and improve my artistic technique through a degree in animation and formulate my own style. I also want to incorporate art into installation of urban areas and peoples homes. Like paint their walls with textures and construct artistic renovations. And once I get a residential base, I can fan out to corporate buildings like hotels and restaurants and whoever else will hire me.

I also want to make independent films after college is over and probably dabble a little before I finish school.

And of course music. I want to make music on my free time and learn instruments also. I want to be able to make all my own stuff because I've worked with bands and I'm the kind of person that needs everything to be perfect and have everyone pull their weight. But no one ever does, so I'll pull my own weight by going solo.

I already have the artistic/creative aspect of it all down but I'm working for the technical part. That's where the animation, the trade work, and music lessons come in.

With animation I can get all the tech saavy knowledge I need to create quality character development, storyboard through my ideas, and film editing to make decent independent films. Plus my artistic/aesthetic style will formulate into something much better than it already is after I complete the requirements for such a degree. Also, it will give me a great tutorial for recording sound, dubbing, and sound engineering. For music or whatever else I need it for by then.

Taking music lessons will give me the means to make and compose great music and works alongside my animation degree.

And the trade work gives me quality experience in the real world setting working with clients, selling products, giving pitches, troubleshooting, planning, engaging my ideas, and last but not least, paying for all the shit I mentioned.

Knowing me, I think it's pretty realistic. :smirk:

What do you aspire to in life?

I mean in the long term as well, not just 'the next spliff' or whatever.

Personally, I aspire to own a nice plot of land and build my own house on it. I would like it to be big enough for me to be able to be self sufficient (i.e rear animals and grow vegetables) and for the house to be big enough that I could let my friends (which are my real family) live there for free, but in return help work the land. I would want to be completely self sufficient and in a sense start a permanent commune.

Man that would be such a beautiful tight knit community and would be an absolutely awesome environment to raise kids in. Almost like a tribe .

So what about you guys?

I believe in progression in stages. I plan on eventually peaking my potential in physical strength, agility, intelligence, decision-making, wisdom, and trusted friendships, hopefully reach enlightenment in my later years.

For professional goals; I aspire to be the C.E.O of a major tech corp., or a similar high-ranking executive position. Own a lamborghini.

For recreational goals; I aspire to skydive, even with my great (unknown)fear of heights.

I think my professional goals will definitely lead to fulfillment of any and all of my personal and recreational aspirations. It's a big world out here.

Yeah man, fuck the past and those shitty ties that hold me back from true happiness. Success vs failure is the way I see it. There's no middle ground.

I like this thread. Aspirations are great. All you need in order to make them happen is ABSOLUTE COMMITMENT.  If you tell yourself, I guarantee that my aspirations will be manifest (mani--hand, fest--celebration), then it's only a matter of winding the clock forward to see your dreams realized.

I aspire to be a great guitar player some day, as well as a kick ass public defender, representing people, helping them get a second chance, and acting as a human wrench in the machine of governmental invasion of privacy.  I want to raise a family.  To that end, I sold off a bunch of stuff on craigslist and bought a fender stratocaster, taking lessons once a week. I'm halfway through law school interning with the public defenders office. And I've got a girlfriend who I don't cheat on nor take advantage of.

I love the dream of setting up a self sufficient homestead/tribe. That was the original american dream--these people were like, fuck the church and this supressive culture, we're gonna cross oceans and do it our own way.  Can you imagine the courage that must hav taken?  At the same time, look at what a little bit of courage and absolute commitment built.  With balls and a personal guarantee, you will change the world.

MY aspiration in life is to live a healthy and happy life. which i am so far doing good at... working out some bumps in the road but its all good. I want to keep pursuing to move up in the company I work for, continue to focus on my career. I plan on graduating college by 2012. Hopefully will be transferring to cal state hayward or cal state san francisco in the next year.  My immediate aspiration would be to decide what I am changing my major to for the last time and stick with it.

On a side note after 2012 when I graduate I want to be able to take some time to travel and see the world. I have been to Europe once but would like to see more of it , Asia , and South america.  I also want to sometime after that probably settle down with someone... But while I am young the single life is fine with me.... and kids? not really a fan of those but maybe I will change my mind with the right person.

The new thing on people's minds these days as far as kids go is get married, then travel for a decade, then have kids.

The only risk of that not coming true is they might get pregnant along the way, birth control ftw.

Or they end up hating each other, single ftw.

Personally, I'm willing to wait around for that person I just know I can spend forever with and not feel drained by them, then marry and travel with them. But until then I'm fine. I'm not into the whole force-fitting thing that a lot of people are nowadays.

Get on up in the game
State yer name
make yer claim
to fame
thats a shame.

Big car
Big house
Big dreams
Big money

Big funny

Big dummy

Taking media to tha dome

Make you want white fence
Big house,2 kids,no spouse
They call it home

Turn the page
leave the stage
let the dream be

be of yer own mind
not already defined

take the time to find your own mind
Take the magazine page and leave it behind
create yer own ryme
in time
youll find
you wont mind
to leave it all behind

We all know mans game is lame
Still you struggle for his fame
Tryin to get all up in his game

leave it like shame
dont hold a torch for his name
Burnin flame, draw the moth to it
you know you want to do it.

It doesn't matter how unrealistic your dreams are, as long as you believe it can happen and are willing to work till your last breath to make it happen.

Come on people, don't hold out on me, tell me what you really want to do with this life you're privileged enough to have.

well if it doesn't matter how unrealistic... Then my ultimate aspiration is to be a drug overlord like scarface,  Have a big mansion, make millions, then when the DEA raids me im going to grab a machine gun and go out in a hail of bullets, then I'll finally be free.
